While Rachel was waiting for some kind of answer, she tapped her foot impatiently. Then a man came in and she turned to him. Rachel watched them as they messed around with different equipment. "You've been brought here for your own protection. As of 1441 hours last night an unknown ship broke in to Esplin 9466 prison and assumidly made off with the prisoner." Rachel gawked. "Excuse me?! Are you saying we have to stay here until the Andalites come...again?! We have children. Every single one of us. Marco has two daughters, Jake and Cassie have a daughter and a son, and Tobias and I have a son and daughter. What about them? Did you think about that?!" "We've contacted the Andalite home world and they're sending the dome ship Derrishoul to help investigate the incident." "And how long is THAT going to take?"

Jake couldn't believe what he was hearing. Brought for protection? Hell they handled the war for three years before the andalites even got here before. They expected them to stay here?
"We aren't staying here," he told them. He didn't raise his voice or anything, but you could tell you wouldn't want to mess with him. "We can take care of ourselves."

"No, you won't be staying here." The man said rather bluntly as he pulled a briefcase out from under the table. Setting it down in front of him self he snapped it open pulling out sever folders, tossing one in front of Tobias and Rachel, another in front of Jake and Cassie, and the last one was placed in front of Marco.
With in the folders were new identities for the Animorphs and their families, new birth certificates, for them and their children, but with names that weren't theirs, new addresses in different states. "You're all being placed in witness protection." He explained simply, as if it wasn't open for discussion.

Marco listened quietly. They were there for their own protection, huh? Well, Jake and Rachel seemed to handle that comment well enough. Knowing that Esplin had escaped made Marco wish his daughters were there with him. He really didn't want them out alone with the yeerks on the loose.
"Witness protection?" He finally broke his silence and let out a derisive laugh, "Are you kidding me? If the yeerks manage to get ahold of someone we're related to, and I HATE to say it...but maybe one of our kids, then they'll know who and what we are. No matter what. Unless you aren't planning on sending our kids with us?"
The thought occured to him as he spoke, and he quirked an eyebrow, "Look, I'm all for keeping the hell out of this insane war this time around. I'm just saying Witness Protection isn't gonna do us any good."

Cassie stood up next to Jake. "Yeah, if we can't fight, for all we know our children might find a way to fight. Or they could be killed...or..." She couldn't finish that sentence, so she bit her lip. She knew they'd most likely catch the drift.

"Are you saying you'd rather stay and fight then?" The military man asked lifting a brow. He looked, anxious, some how, as if he was waiting for something. Perhaps that had been the real question all along, it was highly possible the government had offered the Animorphs protection in hopes they'd choose to fight instead.
Before any of them could give an answer, however, a phone sitting near the head of the table rank. The man briefing them hesitated a moment before turning his attention to pick up the receiver holding it to his ear. "Yes?"
For a moment he simply listened as the person on the other line said whatever it was that was so important that they had to interrupt the briefing. "Alright.....thank you." He finally said before hanging up the phone turning his attention back to the group around the table. "The Derrishoul has just emerged from Z-space in orbit." He informed them simply.

Rachel was about to say, "Duh," but their phone rang and she tapped her foot impatiently. After the man got off the phone and said they were in orbit, she said, "Good. That takes care of that." She walked up to the taller man and then said, "And I want to talk to your boss." She glared at him, entirely unafraid.
She was tempted to knock both their heads together, and she knew her body language showed it.

(Who's heads? There's only one official in the room with them right now. >.> He simply lifted a brow at Rachel's....well Rachelness. Her asking to speaking to his boss seemed to simply confuse the military man. He was just following orders, it wasn't like speaking to his boss would have the same result as speaking to the manager of The Gap about a rude sales associate. "She'll tell you the same thing I have. We can offer you protection, or you're welcome to fight if it comes to that. We're simply here to help you." He said simply seeming less then impressed by Rachel's boldness.

Rachel crossed her arms and looked at the man straight in the eye. "You listen to me, mister Oh-I-think-I'm-All-That, I want to know who your boss is and who put you up to all this. I'll give him a piece of my mind," she said, obviously not hearing the implication that his boss was female.

Cassie walked over to Rachel and put a hand on her shoulder. "Rach, it's okay. We don't have to make a decision quite yet....do we?" She looked at the man, feeling slightly out of place.

Marco closed his eyes and let out an exasperated sigh. So the choice was hide their heads in a hole or fight, huh? Some choice. He ran a hand through his hair and muttered, "Well, that's just SWELL, isn't it?"
To be honest, he was tempted to take the man up on the offer of witness protection. Not for himself, but for his children. He flipped open the folder, scanning the new identy that lie with, "Look, I hate this being protected idea as much as the others...I mean, I don't think it'll even work. But I still don't want to get dragged into this whole fight again. I have kids to think of. Maybe we could head off for a nice vacation on the Andalite homeworld or something...get away from the battleground. Less chance of the yeerks getting my family that way."
He gave a nod at his idea, hoping maybe it would catch on among the group. He knew it wasn't likely. Jake and the others would want to fight.

"I can assure you there's no reason to believe another war will start. For all we know the attack on Esplin 9466's prison may have been an assassination, not a jail break. These are just precautionary steps we're taking." As the military official was trying to reassure them there was no need for rushed or paniced decisions a very loud alarm sounded through out the base as a red warning light in the ceiling began to flash.
"All soldiers to battle stations, all civilians to the lowers levels" The base's computer announced over the speakers. "Unidentified blade ship in orbit. Repeat unidentified blade ship in orbit."

Jake was about to speak and say how they were absolutely not going to put him in a witness protection program when the alarms started to go off. And the speakes mentioned a blade ship.
"A blade ship? Who's is it?" he asked. "What is one doing here?"

“Clear a spot for landing!” Eva Sr. marched right to the front and eyed the ship, the Derrishoul. She had been making contact throughout their flight, making sure that they were safe. When the ship had came into orbit she ordered someone to call the suited man and let him know. She was completely unaware of the fact that the Animorphs were in the building. She knew that she had told the men to bring them in and get them briefed, but that was hours ago. She had been sure to stay away from the building during that time frame. Eva picked up the radio that contacted the Derrishoul and said, “I apologize for the delay, but there seems to be an unidentified blade ship coming up behind you. Be careful. If it means no harm, then you have clear landing. If it does, we will do everything in our power to make sure you are safe. She set the radio down, and sighed, exasperated. “When I opened this business, I didn’t expect it to be so busy.”

Tobias was wrestling with the same things Marco was. He knew Rachel would never agree to run and hide, and he also leaned toward staying and fighting, but yet he was afraid for them.
"I don't like running,...I want to fight too but still I'm afraid for us, for you" he told Rachel. "Of losing you again." he said.
They were distracted by the alarms signaling the incoming ship, and the blade ship alarm. "Yeah...I want to know too." *please don't tell me the yeerks are coming back for another invasion* he thought.
