Ty jerked awake when he heard glass break and something hit the floor. Something that sounded like a body. He leaped out of bed and rushed into the kitchen, already halfway morphed into the white tiger.
Seeing it was just her and no one else, he hurried to her unconscious form, lifting her and putting her on the couch as he reversed the morph. "Mom? Mom? MOM???" Ty said frantically. He didn't want to lose her. Not again....

Cass heard her son's frantic voice in her head. Did he see who was there? She hoped not. "T-Tyler?" Her eyes slowly fluttered open and looked at him.
"Did I wake you?" She tried getting up and soon was leaning forward on the couch. "I'm all right, Tyler..." She forced a smile on her face as she looked up.

Tyler heaved a sigh of relief as Cass' eyes opened and she spoke. "Yeah," he said softly. "You...passed out again. You haven't done that since...you know...you came back."
He looked worried. "You seem okay now, but I want to know what made you pass out this time." He looked at her with a pair of blue eyes that wouldn't take no for an answer. He loved his mom, but he didn't want her keeping secrets.

Cass thought quickly about what she could say, then she said, "I-I had a flash...about the whole thing in the cave...." Her eyes avoided his own, as she pretended to yawn.
Cass gave her son a hug and said, "I love you. But I need to go to bed. I have work tomorrow." She kissed his forehead. "I promise that I'm all right."

Ty simply nodded as she went to bed. He didn't buy it. He waited, giving her time to go to sleep, before he stood up and went to his room, changing into his morphing outfit. Quietly, he went into his Mom's room, laying beside her on the queen size bed.
Then, he focused on a morph Cass didn't know he had. That day he had saved her in the hospital, he'd secretly acquired and killed a Yeerk. Now, he was becoming smaller as is skin turned grayish green. As soon as he was morphed, he crawled inside his Mom's ear, just going through her memories....

Cass was sleeping and hardly noticed that her son was "infesting" her. Had he told her, she would have warned him that it was hard to control a yeerk when in morph, but he would soon find out...
Cass was five years old. Her mother was babysitting her and was on the phone. So of course, she wasn't paying attention to what Cass was doing. Cass was walking outside on the stormy day wandering around. Outside she found a baby deer.
"Hello, Bambi. What are you doing out instead of your home?" She bent down to pet it when it ran off and she watched as it left. Then she heard a cackle as she looked around. What was that? Suddenly a tree limb fell on top of her small body. She was shocked at first and she started crying, "MOMMY?! MOMMY!" She saw her mother's back turned away from her as she spoke in the phone.
It took Cass' mom two hours to realize her 'baby girl' was missing and another hour to find her. The ambulance came by and she was sent to the hospital. A broken leg was all it was...but she was only five years old. Her mom kept saying sorry over and over. "It's okay, Mommy. That tree was just mean...."

The Yeerk's instincts were strong, but Ty was a very strong-willed individual. He rooted through the memories, not really knowing what he was doing aside from a wild goose chase. The memory was touching, and would have made him cry, if yeerks were capable.
Silently, he continued on, keeping track of his time very carefully. After all, this was the LAST morph he'd want to be trapped in.

Cass was fifteen. Her parents had just made her move to the town that Nichole and Ty were living. She walked down the road alone. (This was before she met anyone) Once at the construction site, she started crossing towards it.
Cass didn't get very far before she heard coughing. She looked around, confused. "H-Hello?"
"Down here." She looked down and it was an old homeless man.
For a while she sat there with him, talking with him. She couldn't remember much of it until she went to leave and he grabbed her hand. She looked into his eyes and he said, "Take this...give it to no one..." Then he closed his eyes, never to open them again.
She looked down at her hand and there was a blue box. She spent all night studying it, and in the morning ran into Nichole and Cassie. The blue box changed her life when it shocked her in the girl's bathroom and she later had to give it to Jake.
Cass sat down in the corner away from the group of people. Quite honestly, she didn't know what to do. She had a blue box, which she ended up giving to a guy named Jake. She didn't even know him...that aggravated her. She was tempted to just march up the guy and give him a piece of her mind.
No, just stay calm and remain focused to the reason behind it. She shook her head at that thought. She bit into the food and thought, this food is disgusting....
Well, at that moment, someone came to her. "Hi. My name's Ty. Care if I sit down?" Cass looked up and they started talking. The last thing the memory showed was Ty and Cass grinning at each other, being good friends.

Tyler watched the memory of his mom getting the box, and the power to morph. It was something she'd never told him, and he found it kind of touching. He watched as she met Nichole and Cassie.
Then, he saw and heard Ty's voice. He made the connection instantly. This was one of Cass' best friends. The one he had been named after. He went on to the next memory.

Cass had been crying for days after hearing about Ty's death. She missed him deeply, and it hurt her to think that they would never be able to hang out again. So she had gone to the mall. She didn't want to call her other friends though, she just wanted to go alone. They'd think I'm a burden anyways. I'm a burden to everyone I meet.
Cass eventually decided to try and call Rachel and ran into someone as her head was down and she felt her body ram into someone else. "Oh, my gosh! I'm so sorry, are you all right?"
The boy looked at her with brown eyes that seemed to be concerned. "Oh, it's my fault. I wasn't paying attention.I'm fine. Are you all right?" He smiled at her. "Name's Jay, by the way."
Cass nodded and stuttered, feeling a blush on her face. "Y-yeah, I'm fine. Just a little...are you sure you're all right? I was just trying to find my phone. Why does there seem to be some sort of mishap that I always cause...I assure you, I was paying less attention than you. Hi, Jay. I'm Cassandra. You can call me Cass or Sandra. Whichever you pref-oh man!" Cass had just tried to pick up her purse and it was upside down and open.
Jay helped her pick her stuff up and they spent the day together. Partway through the day, Jay gave her a small kiss, causing Cass to blush and feel butterflies. What is this, I'm feeling? She didn't know...
Jay put his arm around Cass, smiling as she snuggled close to him. "Well, I can stay a while. No problem. I don't have much planned, and my roommate won't care if I'm late." Then, he followed her inside.
Cass smiled up at him. "That would make me feel safe, you know that? I trust you." She opened the door and let him in. "This is my wonderful comfort of home." In other words, it was a dirty house that she had to call home.
"Nice. Much better than the ragged apartment I live in," he said casually. He looked down at her and smiled. "You have no idea how good that makes me feel, hearing you say that."
Cass raised an eyebrow at him. "You want you move in here?" She said in a joking voice. She was surprised at what he said next, though. "Didn't anyone else, a prior girlfriend, a friend, or a family member ever say that to you?"
Jay laughed at her joke, but then got serious. He walked her over to the couch and sat down. "No, they haven't. I haven't had many girlfriends, or friends for that matter, and I have no family that I know of. Up until just recently, I've spent my life bouncing from foster home to foster home. I got fed up and left, so here I am."
Cass was surprised. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, honey!" She sat down next to him and gave him a hug. "Well, you have me. You always will." She smiled at him.
He hugged her back, smiling all the same. "Thanks, Babe." He looked her in the eye. "You have no idea how much that means to me," he said before planting a kiss on her lips.
Cass returned the kiss and even deepened it wrapping her arms around his neck. She didn't want to ever let go of Jay. She loved him and she knew that. He knew that, she wanted to shout out to the whole world. She pulled away and leaned her forehead against his. "I'll never let you go from my heart."
Jay smiled more as her forehead pressed against his. Jay's eyes shined. "I...I love you," he whispered softly.
Cass grinned. "And I love you." She leaned against him, happy and content as could be. She heard the phone ring and she answered it. A couple minutes later, she turned to Jay and said, "My parents are going to be out until tomorrow afternoon."
Jay stretched out on the couch while Cass answered the phone, taking a sip of her soda. "Tomorrow afternoon, huh? They leave you like this often?" he asked, his face showing that he was a little concerned. "So....any plans?" he asked.
Cass looked at him and smiled. "They do all the time. I wasn't surprised really." She giggled when he took a sip of her soda. "I thought you didn't want any," she kidded. Then she shrugged. "No, not really. I might change my clothes in a minute or two. Been in these all day. You?"
Jay shrugged. "I just wanted a sip," he said grinning. "Yeah, I've been in mine a while, too." He got up and hugged her. "I just want to thank you, you know, for everything."
Cass laughed. "It's okay." She stood up too and hugged him back. "I didn't do anything. It was all you. I know it's only been a day, but I feel like I've known you forever."
"No, Babe. You've done more for me than you think." Jay said, burying his face in her hair. "I know, I feel that way too." Jay pulled back enough to look her in the face. "You're one special girl, and don't let anyone tell you different."
Cass blushed when he said that she was a special girl. "Thanks, Jay. You're one special guy..." She kissed him on the cheek and said, "I'm going to go change." She walked slowly to her room and left the door slightly open.
Cass quickly changed in and out of her clothes and checked to make sure her hair was okay. Soon she heard a knock on the door. "Come in?" Her bed was neatly made and she was standing in front of it. "Hey, Jay."
Jay slowly opened the door all the way and stepped inside. He shut it behind him and smiled. "Hey," he said. He just stood there, trying to think of something to say that would break the awkward silence that was sneaking in.
Cass heard the awkwardness start to sink in because of the fact that they were in the same room with a bed behind her. "So, uh, what do you want to do now?"
Jay shrugged, still unsure of what to say. "Um....I really have no idea..." he said awkwardly as he walked closer to her.
Cass looked into his brown eyes and she seemed transfixed in them. She didn't know what to say. "I..." She felt like she was shaking, but she knew it was just her nerves.
Jay kissed her again. Cass returned the kiss and even deepened it, wrapping her arms around him. Everything seemed so perfect. They would be together forever, she knew it.
He wrapped his arms around her as the kiss deepened. He held the kiss for a little while longer. Cass broke away from him to catch her breath. "Should we be doing this?" Her eyes sparkled as she looked into his. She felt like she was ready....all in one day...
Jay looked back into her eyes. "I don't know...Only if you want to," he said gently, also catching his breath.
Cass paused. "Well, I-I don't know. Do you want to? I don't know how it's done." She shrugged, her hair falling beside her as she kept staring at him. "I don't usually believe in this, but I could change..."
Jay smiled tenderly, kissing her on the forehead. "I don't wanna force you into anything you don't want to do," he said softly. Then, he gently picked her up and set her down on the bed, kissing her passionately...
[LATER.....]
Jay lay next to Cass, and snuggled her a little bit, kissing her on the cheek. Cass opened her eyes and snuggled back, looking around at all the clothes on the floor. They had actually done it. She beamed up at him and was a little sad that he left not too long after, but knew that his roommate would be mad at him for staying out all night. She stayed in bed thinking of what happened last night....she couldn't believe it....she had a big huge grin on her face...

Tyler was repulsed by this whole thing. He saw how Jay'd tricked her. FELT how Jay had made her feel. And despite how awkward it was, he was that much happier that Jay was dead. Guys like that don't deserve to live...
Then, he saw...he wanted to leave, he tried to, but the Yeerk's instinct wouldn't let him. He was disgusted at Jay. His mom was so innocent, and he took advantage of it. Wait...I'm sorta doing the same thing by being here...maybe I'm like him after all... Tyler's thought was cut off by the next memory.

Cass had been seeing Jay for six weeks now. She started feeling sick in the mornings, though, but she kept moving. She didn't know why she felt sick in the mornings, she just was. She walked out to her car and drove about ten miles to get some major shopping done. Inside, she picked up cereal, milk, and a bunch of other things for her parents and herself.
She had taken a taxi over, and would have to haul one back home when she was finished. The store was loud, and she was starting to get a headache, but nothing too major. She was reaching high above her head for some things when she felt dizzy. She backed up away from her cart and away from everything else. There. There was a table. She grabbed for it and soon felt herself hit the stone cold floor against her back. As unconsciousness swept over her, she heard someone say, "Call 9-1-1!"
[TWO HOURS LATER]
Cass opened her eyes slowly to see she was in a hospital room. Nichole was there. She smiled. "H-Hey..." Nichole seemed to be worried about her because she started fussing, saying the doctors wouldn't tell her anything. Cass told her that it was okay, just a bad fall and she stood up to see if she could walk steady.
The doctor chose then to come in. "Miss Cassandra Raine Ryonas. Age 15. Came in here because she fainted or passed out in the grocery store, right?"
"Um...yes?" Cass blinked. The doctor smiled. "You feeling any better? This is why you should see a [insert medical name for a baby doctor here], so you can avoid this..."
Cass blinked. "A what?"
"A baby doctor....Miss Ryonas...you're pregnant..." Cass opened her mouth wide and felt her stomach. "I'm...WHAT?!"
Then Cass started pacing, saying "I don't believe this, this is all a dream..." Nichole finally got her to calm down.
The doctor looked at her questioningly. Almost hopeful, he said, "Would you like me to schedule an abortion?"
Cass' eyes flashed. "Hell no. Keep all your tools and stuff and shove it up your--" She stopped herself and then grabbed her stuff. "Thank you, doctor, but I will be keeping this baby in my stomach until he's willing to come out." Then she stormed out, Nichole, looking shocked, following.
[LATER THAT DAY] Cass walked up to the door and knocked. She was nervous. A few minutes later, and Jay came out. "Hey, Jay..." She smiled as he kissed her. "You know, as of today we'd have been together for about six weeks now? Can you imagine that?" She said. Jay smiled. "I can see many more coming up..." He kissed her passionately and the night wore on.
Their best night together had been their last official date. She remembered that well. "I love you, you know that?" Cass said, looking up at Jay, laying in his arms on a couch swing. Jay didn't say anything, but he kissed her deeply as she wrapped her arms around him. "I have something to tell you..." She wanted to tell him about the baby, but he didn't want to talk. Maybe later...
Jay looked at her, his eyes shining bright. Nothing could ruin this moment. "Later, babe...we can talk later..." Then he bent in to give her another kiss, a long deep passionate kiss, his tongue meeting hers, causing her to not be able to function any longer on her own. Jay had picked her up then and took her inside, kissing her quickly three times, before kissing her deeply again, where they spent their last night in love...together.

Tyler watched, and he would have cried if he could. Even before he was born, Cass was really protective of him. He was still feeling bitter towards Jay, but felt that much more of a bond with his mom.
He hated his father, but on the other hand, Jay did something right. If not for him, Tyler would never have been born. And Tyler knew he was everything to his mom.

A week after Jay and Cass had their last official date, Cass finally got the courage to tell him the news. He had stood there and blinked. She felt nerves wanting to get the better of her and just leave, but she had to tell him. Then she just said, "I have to go..." and she got away fast.
Yesterday was worse. Jay had called her to say that he'd like to talk to her about something, so they had met somewhere. That was why she was out at the park, sitting alone. Soon he walked up and sat down next to her. "Hey," she said, smiling.
He smiled back and said, "Hey," but something was different. Cass could tell. He sighed. "Look, about the baby--" Cass was excited. "I know, it's great isn't it? We could all be a family!" She gave him a quick kiss on the lips and he kissed back, but more out of habit than anything. Jay bit his lip. "About that...I think you should have it aborted."
Cass stopped and looked at him. Abortion was out of the question. "What? Why?"
Jay shrugged. "I don't think we're ready for this in our relationship, that's all." Cass felt tears sting at her eyes and she turned away from him. They talked about it for a few more minutes before she blew on him first. "Look, I'm not going to have an abortion! That's murder and the baby did nothing wrong. He doesn't deserve that...if I have to, I'll give him up for adoption! I can't believe you would suggest the baby being aborted." With that, she stormed off angrily and went somewhere away from him as she burst into tears and wondered, Will I even have the strength to give this baby up?
Today she sighed. She didn't want to even think about who would be getting the baby. She hadn't even told her parents yet. "Might as well get this over with," she muttered. She sat down on the park bench and dialed her parents' phone.
A few rings later, her dad picked up. "Hello?" Cass said in a semi-shaky voice. "Hey, Dad. I-I need to tell you something." Then she told him everything and had to repeat it to her mother. She heard a gasp come from her mother and her father was silent. "You come home right now," he said angrily. "You come home and we're taking you to get that baby aborted."
Cass was glad she was sitting down, because otherwise it would have been painful. She sat there, mouth open and then shook her head. "No...for the last time, I am NOT having an abortion!"
Her mother said softly, "Honey, think about thi--" but her father interrupted her.
"You have no say in this matter Cassandra Raine Ryonas. Get home now!" Cass could just imagine the look on his face: beet red, brows furrowed together and thin line at his mouth.
"I'm not coming home then, Dad. If you think for a second that I'm going to be my usual self and listen to everything you say, then you don't know me. I'm sorry, but that's the way it is." It seemed that in this short time she seemed to have become more responsible.
"If you don't come home, you'll be disowned from the family. So get your ass here now if you want anything to do with us."
Cass was fuming inside. She placed her hand on her stomach staring down and said, "Disown me then. This baby isn't coming out until he's ready." She hung up and stayed out for a few hours before she decided to get her stuff at home. She would need to sneak in, she was sure.
She got a taxi and arrived at the destination. What she saw shocked her. The house was on fire! "MOM! DAD!" She raced towards the firetrucks. "Was anyone in there?!" The fireman said that he didn't see anyone and so Cass just backed up and stared in shock. Then someone said, "We've got to let this fire go! The house won't be sa--there's people in here!! Get help, GET HELP!"
Cass' breath caught. She turned in time to see Jay running up to her, a shocked look on his face. "What happened?" Cass bit her lip and felt like she would cry. Jay wrapped his arms around her, holding her tightly. "THey'll be okay," he said, sounding reassuring. She nodded as she curled into him. Even if they did fight, he still comforted her. The firefighters came out just as the house collapsed. "WELL?!" Cass shouted at them.
The words haunted her. "We couldn't save them...." Cass burst into tears and collapsed against Jay. She couldn't see his face, but she felt that he may be crying with her. Her parents....were gone...

Ty couldn't believe it. It seemed as though no one wanted Cass to have him. He now saw why she felt she had to keep so many secrets from him. But, he had to learn more...
He felt every ounce of pain that she did as her parents died in the fire. It made him feel like he wanted to get sick. He then realized at that point, that he'd gotten at least some of his inner strength from Cass. To go through all that, she had to be. And there was still a lot he hadn't seen, but only a little he wanted to.
