Carson lifted a shoulder. "Kind of. He doesn't know yet what the answer is. I talked to him about...you know, everything up until today yesterday."

Eva rolled her eyes. "Laura, it doesn't matter if you've got my rhythym or not, just as long as we're having fun." She started dancing with Laura.

Marco nodded. It made sense that Carson would go to his father just as Eva had come to him, "What do you think he'll say when you tell him?"
He was curious as to what Jake's reaction to the whole thing would be.
Laura smiled, her older sister always knew just what to say. She began to swing her hips to the music, slightly off beat. Several time she stopped and attempted to catch the beat, but to no avail.

"Uh, I think he'll say something about not being surprised that you wanted to talk to me. He kind of had to do a back track when I told him it was Eva. I tried starting out as a hypothetical question, but then decided against it halfway through."

Eva smiled at Laura as she had tried to keep up with the music. "Here, let me try to help you." She stopped and listened to the music. "You hear that? The 'thump'? Follow that sound."

"You tried the hypothetical question bit?" Marco let out a laugh, not trying to be cruel, but unable to stop himself, "That never works, man!"
Laura nodded at her sister's advice. She listened to the music without moving, picking up on the beat. Thump, thump, thump....her hips began swaying in time to the thump.

Eva smiled. "You got it! See? It's not so hard, you're a wonderful dancer."

Laura laughed and shook her head, curls bouncing ver her shoulders as she continued to dance, "I'm no where near as good at it as you."
She did a little twirl and fell slightly ff beat again, having to do a double step to regain her rythm.

Carson laughed, too. "Yeah, I know. But I can confuse Dad that way really easy." He joked. "Or catch him off guard with a different question."

Eva raised an eyebrow. "Don't give me that. Compared to you, I'm a one legged lumberjack." She didn't like to be "better" at things, she liked to be "equal" about things. She thought she should maybe work harder at not being able to dance so well.

Marco liked being able to joke with Carson. By the time he was done with most of the booys who liked Eva, they were so terrified they forgot to laugh at his jokes...or they ran away crying like little babies. Carson respected Marco, and yet he also could laugh along at jokes and at himself. Facts that Marco had already known, but which were confirmed now, "Really? Big Jake gets so easilly confused? Man, I should have tried that trick during the war!"
Laura shook her head again, she knew what Eva was thinking, "You're allowed to be better than me...it doesn't bother me. I have things I'm better at too, I'm sure."
She couldn't think of anything real. Just a joke that popped into her head. The truth was, she didn't think she was really that skilled at anything. So she went with the joke, "Like staying out of trouble, for instance."

"You do have things you're better at," Eva said. Then when Laura said, "Like staying out of trouble, for instance," she mimed someone piercing their own heart and fell backwards, with the intention of falling onto the bed as she said, "Oh, through the heart," but missed the bed, "Oh through the OW!" She rubbed her head, on the spot that hit the bed.
Then she started laughing. "I am such a clutz."
