Amy nodded. "Yes, it is nice." She finished her tea and felt the odd sensation again. "Be right back." She ran to the bathroom and threw up again.
I remember the last time I did this....not fun....

Ruth got up and poured more tea while Amy was throwing up. She sat back down in her spot, picked up her notebook, and scribbled a little bit more while waiting. "You okay in there?"

Amy opened the door. "Yeah, I'm fine. Thank you." She forced a smile. It seemed she was getting weaker by the hour. The hell is wrong with me? I had one sandwich, it's held me through a whole day before....

Ruth stopped writing, her mind swirling with more memories. Happy memories, sad memories, all about Ricky. Her head began to hurt, and she covered her face with her palms, sobbing.

Amy walked over to Ruth. "You okay?" She handed Ruth some tea, and said, "Maybe this will make you feel better."

Ruth looked at Amy, then at the game they were playing, then at her notebook. She drank the tea, feelings of anger and bitterness rising up again. She sat back, hands shaking. "Y-yes...I...I'll be f-ine.."

Amy nodded. "Okay. Shall we get back to the game? You're winning." She smiled as she sat back down.

Ruth forced a smile, then looked back at the game. Happy memories of Ricky now playing in her mind. Her smile softened, and became genuine. "Okay. Let's continue playing. Oh, I am winning aren't I?"

Amy nodded. "Yes, you are." She dealt the cards and said, "You also get to count first." They continued playing the game, and it was time to calculate the score. Amy smiled. "Congratulations. You've won."

"Congratulations, you won," Amy said. Ruth looked up smiling. Images flashed through her mind.
She saw the last time she had played with Ricky. Ruth had won that game, as she always did. Ricky laughed. "You beat me again, Ruthie..."
Upon remembering this, Ruth laughed softly. "So I have...Good game." Ruth saw Amy sitting there instead of Ricky. "Good game, Amy. Good game..."

Amy smiled again. "What would you like to do now?"

Ruth raised an eyebrow. "Hmm...I don't really know..." She said, thinking. "I haven't got a clue, to tell you the truth..."

Amy raised an eyebrow. "You really didn't think much about this plan, did you?" She sighed. "Okay. I can be your reading buddy."

"Hey, it's not like I spent a week planning this out, okay? Give me a break. I've been through quite a lot..." Ruth said as she picked up another book and started reading. Her tone softened. "I don't mind a reading buddy...Look on the end table right there and pick out a book." She motioned to a stack of books on the end table next to Amy.

"Sorry, sorry," Amy said with her hands up in the air. Then she picked out a book and said, "Ooh, this one looks interesting," and began to read.
