"Visser 1 has already seen the unedited version, after all I would not keep information from him regarding his own soldier. And the reason i keep pointing to Visser one is because it is him soldier, therefore it is his problem. " Essak said with a smirk, not backing down an inch from visser 24's attempted intimidation "and don't let your power get to your head Iwirt. I was offered your current position before you were, except I turned it down. After all, more power means more powerful enemies..." His voice trailed off, leaving the rest up to Iwirt's imagination.

Iwirt's temper was taking control of him. His host's entire head turned beet red. He couldn't stand being talked to in this manner, especially from a lesser Yeerk. He easily towered over Essak, but Visser 42 would not back down. <Iwirt, dude...control your temper....it's not worth getting violent over...> <Ryan...shut up.> Iwirt said. With that, he drew back Ryan's hand, and backhanded Visser 42 right across the mouth.

Salheer was not a Yeerk who laughed often; although he did tend to chuckle a lot, amused by the antics of the lower Yeerks. This time, though, he had to bite down on his fist to keep himself from laughing. He hoped he just looked a bit scared.
"Oh my," he said quietly. "These two seem to be worse than the current Visser One and the former." Idiots. He decided he would let Essak have his counter attack, but if things got too far, he would put a stop to it. He did not see the point in letting these two kill each other. Not yet, at least.

Essak rolled with the hit, coming to his feet half a dozen yards away from Iwirt. He drew his gun, a feral grin on his face as he muttered, half to himself and half toward Visser 24, "They just get stupider by the year don't they."
Essak whispered a short command into his watch and his smile grew even wider when he got a response. "Never let yourself be pulled into a fight you didn't plan for" Essak said in a lecturing tone that was bound to anger his opponent. "My men have control over the security systems in this area of the base. Which means, plain and simple, that there will be no proof that I did this."
Essak aimed his gun at Iwirts head, but then changed his mind, lowered the gun, and shot Iwirt in the kneecap. He watched with pleasure as his opponent fell, and said "I should kill you for your lack of control, but with my luck we would just get someone worse, if that is possible. At least Visser 2 thinks before he acts."
Essak turned and headed out the door, calling back to Salheer "you, of course, saw nothing."

Iwirt dropped and sat down in pain, but his hand was already reaching for his concealed Dracon beam, which he drew. He stood and fired as Essak walked out. But his knee gave way from the pain and he left a pretty hole in the wall. "AGH! Stupid...." <I told you....> Ryan said. <Shut up, Ryan...> "Good thing I'm in the infirmary already...." He muttered. "That sorry piece of crap is gonna pay..."

Salheer knelt down next to Visser 24. "Before you plot your revenge, Irwit One-Six-Five-Five, you would do well to remember that the power of a Visser is not determined by his number alone. Essak Three-Two-Nine has many friends. Open fighting will only lead to many turning against you. Not even our current Visser One would openly engage his predecessor. If you wish to destroy Essak Three-Two-Nine, you must be more subtle."
The Emperor nodded to himself. One of these Vissers would destroy the other. He did not particularly care which one succeeded. Irwit had his uses, though limited. Essak would be harder to manipulate. And he was more interested in his sciences than in conquest; not a good quality, in Salheer's opinion. Perhaps it was time for him to be phased out.
"I am Subvisser Thirty Three," Salheer continued. "I offer you my personal services."

Iwirt started bandaging his own knee as Salheer spoke. He listened carefully. "Nice meeting you. You already seem to know who I am." He stood up, despite the fact that his knee still hurt. He outstretched his hand to shake. "Salheer, I accept."

Salheer shook Irwit's hand; being a politician, he was more than used to shaking the hands of those he did not necessarily respect. "Your first step should be obvious, then. Essak Three-Two-Nine's strength lies in his allies. He has worked with Esplin Nine-Four-Six-Six for a long time, and with Guraff Four-Two-Seven. They may not be all that fond of him, but the Old Guard tends to stand together. Those two alone are a very difficult obstacle to surmount. But there is at least one Yeerk who would aid you in opposing them. I am sure you already know of whom I speak."

Iwirt listened carefully, as he released Salheer's hand. Sure, he really didn't care for the guy. But anyone that would help him take out Visser 42 was okay, at least for the time being. He nodded. "I believe I do, Sub-Visser Thirty-Three. What should we do first?"

I very much hope we are thinking of the same Yeerk, Salheer said to himself. "You must approach him about an alliance. Outline your common goals and explain to him why working with you would be to his benefit. Once he accepts your offer, then we can begin to plan specifics."

"I will be sure to do that, SubVisser Thirty-three." Iwirt walked around, testing his bandage. He had a slight limp. "Where can I find him?"

Salheer sighed internally. "I will make an appointment for you to meet with him. It is imperative that you show him the greatest respect. If you make an enemy of him, your life will end very soon."

"Thank you. I am aware of that detail. Just because I choose not to show respect to the likes of Visser 42, does not mean I am uncapable of it." He then sat down and unwrapped his knee, then rebandaged it. He then hobbled around a bit more. "That's as good as I can get it. All I gotta do is let it heal." He looked back at Salheer. "Thank you." He then sat back down and propped his bum leg up.

Salheer nodded. "I am afraid I must take my leave now, Irwit One-Six-Five-Five. There are still some affairs of stat that require my attention. I will contact you with information about the meeting as soon as I am able to arrange it." Salheer turned and left. This had potential, but he was far from done. There were still some key players that needed to be contacted. The Yeerk Emperor never played just one side of any issue.
