"Speak of the devil" Essak said so that only Guraff could hear. He then turned around a said "Ahh, Visser 2," he nodded his head toward the Visser "I was just about to ask the same question." He turned back and looked at Guraff, his face calmer than his superiors.

"Although I drew attention, there is nothing to suggest I was anything other than a Hork-bajir," Guraff told them. "Even the Andalite and morpher I spoke to do not suspect that I am anything other than a Seer."
"As for an explanation," he sighed, "there is none." He knew that, more than anything, that would confuse the two calculating Vissers.

Tinem glared at Guraff, his tail twitching in a want to sever the Hork Bajir's head. But instead he narrowed his eyes and just decided to punish the Yeerk. <Guraff, you are to report to the pool immediately. You will not be allowed to return to any host body for two Earth weeks. Understood?> He glared at the lower ranked Yeerk. While Guraff's arguments were legitimate, there was still no excuse for what he had done.

Guraff shrugged. "As you wish, Visser Two." He was not worried, though. As soon as Esplin heard of the order, he would countermand it. Visser One would not allow his best soldier and old friend to float around in the Yeerk pool while there was work to be done. He didn't see the need to mention this to Visser Two, though. He was fairly confident Visser 42 would do it for him soon. Until then, Guraff was content to go to the pool. He needed to feed anyway, and it would be nice for Seer to have some time to himself.

Essak shook his head at the ridiculous order Visser 2 gave. "You know, Visser" Essak said "one of the main rules of leadership is never to give an order that will not be followed. This also extends to commands that will be immediatly overridden. You do realise that it will be overridden by Visser 1 right? Even without that, I don't belive Guraff has to listen, as he reports directly to Visser 1."
"However, you can go ahead with that if you want, as you seem to be ignoreing me on most other things" Essak was dripping with sarcasm "after all, its not like we have been through this before or anything"

Visser two turned and glared at Essak. <We have to try something, Visser 42. Were he anyone else's pet, you wouldn't be arguing. He knows what we can and cannot do. There is no excuse for what he did. I should have demoted him to a Gedd host.> He turned and started walking.

"Most other "pets" do not have as have nearly half the record Guraff does. Do you think we should demote everyone who makes a minor mistake? If we did we would have no one in a host." Essak scolded "Good work must be rewarded just as bad work should be punished."

<This was no minor mistake, Essak, and you know it!> He turned, glaring at Essak. <It could have jeopardized our entire stealth operation! The only reason it didn't is because the humans are ignorant enough of the Hork Bajir to know that Seers only come once in a generation!>

"That and because very simply he did not act like a seer" Essak said, chuckling "and because I may hav edited the videos a bit. Most humans are so ignorant of the tools they use every day." He shook his head and said "I know you are looking at taking Visser 1's spot, and that guraff is in your way for that. But pick your battles. This is not one you want to fight."

He glared at Essak and turned, just walking away. He knew he was risking, but he wouldn't argue now. He knew he was headstrong, but that was what got him up to Visser Two in the first place.

Iwirt had walked in just in time to see Guraff's latest fight on the news. He propped himself up against the wall, as his host often liked to do. He just sat, taking in the scene. He was the second-highest ranked Yeerk in the room, and that boosted his confidence. He chuckled to himself as Vissers Two and 42 went back and forth. He held his peace til his superior had left. "You know Essak, both of you make interesting points. But, my question would be, why was Guraff even in the mall in the first place?" He glanced around, sure that they didn't even know he was there.

One of Salheer's first tasks was to seek out the powerful Yeerks on Earth. How convenient to find so many of the in one place. Salheer stood silently, watching the Vissers speak. After all, he chuckled to himself, Lowly Subvisses like me do not go about interrupting such lofty superiors.
Salheer was surprised by Guraff's...antics. The Emperor's successor had spoken very highly of the old soldier, as did many on the Counsel of Thirteen. He was as famous for turning down promotions as for his loyalty and ability. But perhaps his mind was not what it once was. Guraff may have to be...forcibly...retired soon. And Visser Two certainly appeared ready to do it.
He chuckled a little when Visser 24 asked his question. "Perhaps, Irwit One-Six-Five-Five, Guraff Four-Two-Seven was simply doing some shopping. He is a remarkably simple Yeerk."

Essak looked at the yeerk who questioned why Guraff was at the mall, and immediatly recognised him as the newly promoted Visser 24. Great Essak thought another headstrong and stupid young visser. Dealing with one such as Visser 2 would be hard, adding another one would make it ridiculous. Essak sighed just as another yeerk spoke up.
Unlike full Visser's, who's entire dossier's Essak memorized, this one was a subvisser, so Essak recognized him solely by looks. "I sincerely doubt that is the case Salheer" Essak said, then he turned toward Iwirt " However, I am sure he will report everything to his superior, so go ahead and ask Visser 1 about it if you wish"

Iwirt was annoyed that Essak used Visser One to dodge the question. He moved from his spot, and stood face to face with Visser 42. "That is at least the second time in this conversation that you mentioned Visser One when a superior asked you a question. Do you hide behind his authority because you are the lowest ranked Visser? Or do you have some sort of sick obsession with Visser One?" He smiled smugly at his joke, which he had actually stolen from his host, Ryan. "But since you brought it up, Essak, I remember hearing you say that you edited the footage of Guraff's little "adventure" in the mall. I think it'd be interesting to see the unedited version. I wonder what Visser One would think of that..."

Salheer chuckled a bit at Visser 24's hostility towards the other Visser. In his usual nasal monotone, Salheer commented, "Irwit One-Six-Five-Five has an interesting point, do you not agree, Essak Three-Two-Nine? I am certain that Esplin Nine-Four-Six-Six would also enjoy seeing the full version."
Irwit One-Six-Five-Five still has much to learn about the nature of power in the Empire, Salheer said to himself. The rank of a Visser, or of any Yeerk, means little when weighed against their list of friends. Perhaps Irwit One-Six-Five-Five is not right for his rank. If so, he will have to be...permanently demoted. And I believe Essak Three-Two-Nine would be one for the task,
