Esprea walked through the door, and yelled, "Dad, I'm home." In Eva's voice. <I hate you,> Eva said. <Yeah, yeah.> "Can I go over to Carson's to do some studying?" <I really hate you.> Eva snarled. <I know. You said that before. I know you're trying to make me slip up, won't do any good.>

"Hey, Eva!" Marco grinned at his daughter as he poked his head out of the study where he had been hard at work writing down lines that he thought were ripe with wit for his latest script. His features fell into a false frown at his daughter's request, "Again? Ii'm starting to think you don't like it here!"

Esprea used Eva's voice and laughed at her father's frown, and gave him a hug. "I like it here, but the other problem is that Carson stole my notes for math." Then she made the puppydog pout and said, "Pleease?"

"Fine, can't argue with that look." He sighed and waved a hand in the air as though shooing her away, "Go, go! Don't forget to steal those notes back either."

Esprea said, "Thanks, Dad!" She gave him a kiss on the cheek and ran out to meet Carson, who was waiting for her. <I HATE YOU!> Eva screamed. <I hate you too,> Esprea replied.

Marco let out a soft laugh at her enthusiasm, watching as she ran out of the house. He had no clue she was a Controller. As far as he was concerned, she was just a normal child, wanting to spend time with her friends.

Carson waited for Eva to finish talking to her father. When she came out, he smiled. "You ready?" He stuck his hands in his pocket ready to go.

Esprea laughed and said, "Why, of course. And while we're at it, where are my math notes?" She linked her arm through his as her mind was thinking of how to make him a controller. <You're never going to get to him,> Eva stated matter-of-factly. <Wait and see, human, wait and see.>

Carson smiled sheepishly. "In my backpack. Hang on, let me call Dad and tell him we're on our way." He brought out his phone and dialed his dad's number.

Esprea rolled Eva's eyes and then said, "I'm sure he knows we're coming, but okay. It's your phone." She started walking down the sidewalk in a hurry. "C'mon, time's a-wastin'."

Carson rolled his eyes at Eva, and then hung up the phone. "Busy signal anyways. I'll just wing it from here. Mom might have gone to work, so he might be talking to her on the phone." He raced after Eva and said, "It's only been five minutes! How could we be wasting time?" He laughed.

Esprea chased after him. "Easy. You're standing there wanting oh so desperately to talk to someone! Come on! We have studying to do! I want to hurry and get back home."

"All right, all right. Come on." Carson grabbed Eva's hand and raced forward.
