He closed his eyes for a moment, then looked back at Aaron. I have to consistently remind myself of what good I have. It is not hard to find what good others have. He continued walking with Aaron, then looked up with his stalk eyes as he heard a bird singing. He lifted his main eyes to look better at it. The bird was a small Robin that flew down and landed on Tinem's head. He jumped slightly and looked down at it with his stalk eyes, then concentrated and acquired its DNA. The bird stood still for a moment, then flew off.

"Yeah. I kn-know what you m-mean," Aaron said as he watched the words the andalite signed. He walked on, but watched interested as the bird landed on Tinem's hand. The morphing ability had always fascinated Aaron, but he didn't have it. For some reason his daydreams seemed full of what it would be like to fly or swim in a body designed for those actions.
It was wishful thinking though. He had his doubts that anyone would be given the morphing abilities, even if a new yeerk war broke out. His eyes followed the bird as it flew off. Dreams were so hard to let go of, something tended to make people cling to them. For some reason, Aaron couldn't let go of his dreams of morphing, not that he'd even mention his want of the power to Tinem. It wasn't like there was anything the andalite could do to give it to Aaron. It was a dream, and that was probably all it would ever be.

Tinem looked down at Aaron and saw the look on his face as he watched the bird. He thought a moment and remembered he had an Escafil device in his ship. He looked over at Aaron and motioned for him to wait. He turned and galloped back to the water, jumping in and morphing to the squid form in seconds. He came back up a few minutes later and demorphed, walking over to Aaron with a glowing blue cube in his hands. He looked down at the boy and held it out to him.

Aaron watched as Tinem galloped back out into the water. He was confused for the few moments where he was alone, not really sure what the andalite was doing. His face changed to an expression of surprise when he was what Tinem came back carrying though. A blue box that seemed to glow of it's own accord. Aaron knew what that was.
Tinem held the box out to Aaron. "Y-you're giving m-me the p-power to morph?" he asked. It was more in a tone of disbelief. How Tinem had read his expression so well he didn't know, but this seemed almost too good to be true. It was one of those moments where Aaron was tempted to pinch himself and see if he was dreaming.

Tinem smiled kindly with his eyes and nodded since it was the only gesture he could use with both hands holding the device. He took a small step forward and gestured towards Aaron with the box, encouraging him. It was the least Tinem could do if the boy wanted to get away from his troubles for a while.

After the andalite nodded he held the cube even closer to Aaron's hands. Tentatively the boy reached a hand out and touched the glowing box. For a moment nothing happened, then a strange, almost pleasant tingling sensation spread along Aaron's hand, to his arm and kind of all over.
When it faded he pulled his hand away. Nothing looked different nor did anything really feel different. But things were different now. Aaron was no longer just a teenage boy with a speech issue. He could morph now. As cool as that was, it came with it's own responsibilities. You couldn't abuse a power like this because it just wasn't right.
"Th-thank you."

Tinem smiled again and nodded, then looked around for a place to tuck the cube. He looked down at Aaron's pocket and pointed, asking if he could carry it there. As he did, his eye stalks were looking around for a bird Aaron could acquire. One of his eyes rested on a little brown bird that looked to be asleep. He handed the cube to Aaron and moved silently, then reached up and gently took the birds in his hands. It twittered and struggled a bit as he held it out to Aaron, but he made sure he didn't hurt it.

Aaron noticed Tinem point to his pocket, then he handed Aaron the cube as he reached for a small bird in a tree. Aaron made the only assumption he could and stuck the blue cube in the pocket of his jacket. He figured that was what Tinem had wanted. It would be safe there, for now. It would probably be hidden somewhere safer later.
As the bird was held out to Aaron he reached out and gently touched it. He tried to absorb the DNA, not really sure how it worked and if he was doing it right. The bird seemed to still momentarily, so apparently it had worked. His first morph.
((OOC: Any specific idea's what the bird was? Just curious. Otherwise I can figure something out.))

(Just a little sparrow) Tinem smiled with his eyes and opened his hands as the bird came to its senses. He lifted his hands a little and it fluttered off. He looked at Aaron, then concentrated on his new morph. He started to shrink and change into the little red breasted Robin. His hind quarters withered and shrank, leaving him on two legs. He stumbled into a tree, unused to being on two legs. As it continued, his red fur seemed to gather on his chest and grow into feathers while the black lightened to brown and spread over his body in feathers. His tail blade split into feathers while his arms twisted and became wings as primaries started to grow from his arms. His face split and grew a mouth, which immediately hardened into a beak. As his main eyes rounded and became little black bird eyes, his stalk eyes shrank into his head. Now he started shrinking as his feet split and became birdlike. He was a mostly complete giant robin, but he shrank quickly to the normal size. After quelling the instincts of the animal, he chirped a bit and fluttered up onto a branch to wait for Aaron to morph.

Aaron watched the sparrow fly away, then watched as Tinem morphed into the robin he had acquired. He fluttered into a tree after finishing, and seemed to be waiting for something. Aaron realized what it was after a moment. Tinem was waiting for him. Aaron focused on an image of the bird in his mind, but as the tattoo pattern of feathers started to appear on his skin he got surprised and the barely started morph reversed. A second try proved to work as this time he continued past the pattern, the feathers becoming real. There were colors of brown on his back, tan on his belly, and some black and white on his face. He shrank, his legs growing sort of scaly as this happened. Odd sounds were heard inside him as his organs shifted and his bones changed and hollowed out. A tail sprouted from behind him as his arms finally looked more like wings than feathery human appendages. His mouth and nose melted and hardened into a beak. The changes finished, though with the downside of him being in the center of a sort of nest of clothes, which hadn't been tight enough for him to morph. He took a few minutes to control the instincts this first time, then said, <Whoops. I forgot normal clothing doesn't morph without practice> He paused momentarily, surprised. <Wow.... For some reason I expected myself to stutter in thought speak.> Shaking away this thought he fluttered up to join Tinem on the branch. ((I used this Sparrow since it's found in North America: image))

(Woot. Here's mine kaweahoaks.com/html/robin01.jpg)Tinem watched him morph, cocking his head to the side and hopping side to side, since the Robin morph couldn't sit still. He twittered a bit, almost like a chuckle, at Aaron's surprise at not stuttering, then lifted off the branch and started flying, going higher and higher until the Robin couldn't climb anymore. He looked down at the little Sparrow and chirped a bit, moving down to fly with him. He hoped Aaron would like this, letting go of gravity for a bit to forget about things for a while.

Aaron took off into the air after Tinem. It took a few minutes to figure out the right balance between controlling things himself and letting the animal control, so that he still dictated the actions but the bird could do the things that he didn't know how to do like flying. By the time that had happened Tinem had dropped down lower, joining Aaron at the level he'd been flying at.
He laughed, the laughter projecting to Tinem via thought speak. This was every bit as thrilling as he'd ever dreamed it to be. Tinem had given him two gifts. The gift of friendship and the gift of freedom. If he morphed he was free of everything, including his verbal handicap. He'd never stay longer than the required time just to gain that permanently, but the momentary freedom was enough.

Tinem chirped happily, showing he was glad that Aaron was enjoying himself. He looked down as they flew over the city, watching the humans as they moved through their city. He looked over at Aaron to see how he was doing.

They were flying over the city, right past Aaron's house even. It looked so different from up here and yet familiar from having spent his whole life there. This was interesting and different, also slightly tiring after a while despite the help of the thermals. Songbirds weren't the greatest for long distance flying.
He dropped down into a tree in part of the neighborhood that he recognized. He wanted to say something, but was having trouble putting his feelings to words. <Wow> was the best he could manage.

Tinem landed beside him and hopped a bit, looking around. He looked over as Aaron expressed his amazement and looked around. This place was rather interesting. He fluttered down to the ground and began to demorph as they started to reach the limit. He hoped Aaron would get the message and do the same.
