Jay took a deep breath of fresh air as he walked down the street. He was seeing the outside world for the first time in ten years. Jay had always believed that laws were meant to be broken. He had abused his morphing power to vandalize property, not to mention rob stores, steal cars, and just plain terrorize people. He got caught and charged with several counts of the above, plus a few counts of possession of marijuana, and several other charges, leading to a life sentence in jail.
But, Jay was a sneaky little devil. During a riot, he managed to slip away, morph, and make his escape. He swiped some clothes from a nearby store, and was now walking down the street with his knives in his possession. He squinted his eyes against the bright sun as he walked. Sure, his face was probably all over the news since he escaped a few days ago, but he didn't care. He was free, and he intended to stay that way.

Carson was walking home from school. Eva had already gone down her driveway about ten minutes ago. Normally Eva would have been home for a long while before he even thought about it, due to basketball practice, but thanks to Eva, he was grounded. He knew part of the blame was on himself for trying to stop her, but still, it was her idea.
Carson looked at his watch; he was five minutes behind schedule. Carson wasn't paying attention when he bumped into someone. "Oh, Jeez. Sorry about..." His eyes widened. The guy he ran into was the man on TV! What was his name? Jim...Jay. It was Jay. Great, so he gets in more trouble as he's late. "What are you doing here?" He raised an eyebrow. "You know what, don't answer that. I'm calling the police." He said as he was walking away with his cell phone in hand.

Jay flinched when the kid who bumped into him mentioned the police. "I'm just enjoying an innocent little walk, kid," he said calmly. But when the kid started to walk away with his cell phone, Jay grabbed him by the back of the shirt and pulled him back. "Now, why do you wanna do that? We just met, after all..."
"Now, for all you know, I might not even be who you think I am." Jay released him. "How do you know I don't just look like a criminal. I could be a law abiding citizen, for all you know..." He smiled a fake grin.

Carson felt his shirt being grabbed and he was yanked back. "Hey!" He accidentally dropped his phone onto the ground. He raised an eyebrow. "A law-abiding citizen that matches the man who escaped exactly? Okay, maybe. Let me see your credentials. THEN tell me you aren't who I think you are." Carson crossed his arms and looked at the guy closely again. He knew it was Jay. He knew it. So he wasn't about to grab his phone, because that may mean Jay'd attack him or something. He also noted the fake smile. He was trying to talk himself out of it. It wasn't going to happen. He would go back to jail. Jay made the "jai" of "jail." (OOC: Yeah, had to put that last sentence in XD I found it humorful. What about you? )

((OOC: I like it, Cass. It's cute. ) "You wanna see my credentials? I can always show ya my ID," Jay sneered. This kid was REALLY starting to piss him off, and there was no way Jay was going back to jail. He grabbed Carson by the arm and dragged him into a nearby alley. "You wanna see my credentials? Here ya go...." With that he pulled out his switchblade, flipping it open. "You're not a very good vigilante, kid. You don't confront a criminal. Especially me. Whatcha shoulda done, was apologize, walk away, THEN pull out your phone and cry to the police." He smiled evilly. "Man...it's been TOO long since I've done this. Should I kill you, or let ya fear a little...."

Carson blinked when Jay took his arm. Crap...I had thought this would go easy... He waited to see his i.d. or whatever when the guy pulled a blade out. "I thought so..." he said as he stared at the thing for a second. He felt fear inside him but then glared.
"Why do you hurt people? Can't you tell that this isn't right? If you want out of jail and to stay out, you shouldn't be doing this." He crossed his arms. How was he going to get out of this one? "What, you always ask your victims that question? Because you can't think of what to do? Pathetic." He didn't know where all this was coming from, but he would go with it...for now.

"I hurt people because I want to. And no I don't always ask that question. But, it's not every day I get outta jail after 10 years just to be bothered by some punk kid." He stared at the kid, a sick glare on his face.
After Carson had said the word "pathetic," Jay hauled off and hit him in the nose. Jay looked at his now blood-stained knuckles, and wiped them on his shirt. He let out a long heavy sigh. "You brats never learn, do you. Never talk to strangers, kid. And you certainly don't back-talk said stranger. Might get hurt..." Jay put his blade away.

Carson didn't like the look on Jay's face and didn't even notice the fist going towards his face until too late. He felt the blood. That had hurt. He leaned against the wall, tilting his head back and pinching his nose. "Ow. What the heck was that for? You just proved to me who you are...not that I didn't know beforehand."
Carson then heard a car driving by and then stop. His eyes searched frantically for something to warn the person with. Then he heard a voice; it was familiar. Mom?

Cassie was glad that she was almost home. It had been another long day for her and she just wanted to go home, glad that tomorrow was her day off and she wasn't planning on going anywhere. What she saw as she rounded the corner, made her blink and then stop the car.
Opening the door, she called out, "Carson?" Her eyes widened to see him bleeding and standing in front of Jay. She, unlike her son, knew better than to call the police while around him, and so walked by Carson and said, "Jay. What brings you here?"

Jay looked at the woman who approached him. He thought she looked familiar. He just couldn't quite place her though. "Hi, um...Rachel, right?" he asked. "Long time...no see...I guess...."
He looked from her to Carson. "You know, just roamin' like usual," he answered casually. "What about you?" He looked at Carson's bloody nose. "Um...the kid had a nosebleed...He...might wanna put some ice on that....."

Cassie raised an eyebrow. "Not Rachel. Cassie." She heard Jay's slight hesitation and then said, "Should have been longer." It had been the truth. Jay was supposed to be in jail for the rest of his life. "In fact, I doubted to be seeing you at all."
Cassie heard Carson groan slightly. "He doesn't just get nosebleeds. Besides, you have blood on your shirt. No doubt you decided to hit my son," she said angrily. She glared one last time at Jay, and went over to Carson. "Come on, Carson. We're going home." She helped him get to the car and she turned to Jay and said, "You're not safe here. They'll catch you again."

"What? You mean you didn't miss me? I'm hurt..." Jay said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "And I didn't decide anything. He triggered an old reflex," he shot back. "And it's my mistake, Cassie..."
"I'm not safe anywhere, just so you know. And I can't help if you're son's a smart-alek!" he yelled as they were leaving. "And you're the ones who ain't safe," he muttered under his breath.

Cassie looked back at Jay when he started talking. She noted the sarcasm, but didn't say anything. "I'm sure he did, Jay. Everything seems to be a reflex with you. Why didn't you just stay in jail and be let out early for good behavior? Did you have good behavior?"
Jay continued talking. "I know you're not safe anywhere." Cassie kept a straight face. "He's only saying what he wants. That doesn't mean he's a smart-aleck." She sighed. "I'm sorry if I sound snippy. I just got off work." Carson got in the car and Cassie handed him the phone, mouthing, "Call the cops."
Cassie turned back to Jay and walked up to him. "Is something bothering you? Because you can tell me what's wrong. I won't tell anyone else." She had heard what he had muttered, just barely but refused to say anything about it.

Jay laughed. "Good behavior? ME? You're hilarious, know that?" Jay snorted. "And he really did trigger an old reflex. Jail made me really paranoid, ya know? He really did trigger a reflex."
Jay glanced around nervously. He needed to get away. He had weed in his pocket, for the first time in 10 years, and he HAD to have it. "I gotta go..." he said before taking off, slipping into another alley and lighting up.
