Amy held her folder in her right hand as she walked outside the courtroom. The previous day's events was certainly taking a toll on her, first being kidnapped after finding out she was pregnant, then Marco finding out in a way she hadn't planned, and now a meeting with the boss. At least she had won the case. Her client was innocent.
Sarah waited impatiently for Amy to enter her office. They had a lot to talk about. Finally, Amy arrived. "So, I expect you know why you're here," she said in a calm voice.
Amy crossed her arms, and replied, "Not really, no."
Sarah snorted. "You had a no-show yesterday, you didn't call, didn't tell your husband where you were-"
Amy interrupted her, "I was kidnapped! I couldn't tell Marco where I was!" Amy got ready to say more.
"So who is he, Amy?" Sarah asked her with an angry tone, really thinking that Amy was in fact having an affair.
"Excuse me?" Amy was dumbfounded. Who's who?
"You heard me. You didn't want to come into work yesterday, so you thought that saying your other guy kidnapped you and went gallivanting off with him!"
Amy stared at Sarah in disgust. "I'm not-"
"Don't deny it! I know you're seeing someone else!"
"It wasn't-"
"Well, I'm sorry you don't intend to open up with the truth, Amy. We could have helped you fix your mistake. We're going to have to let you go."
Amy opened her mouth to protest, but a box was shoved into her arms.
"Please pack up and leave."
Amy turned down the hall, not daring to say another word. She had plenty of ideas on what to say, but wouldn't.
A reporter with a camera had caught the whole thing and quickly spoke into it. "Amy Lona Arzabe, the best known Lawyer anywhere, was fired today from Harlein Law Firm. Not much else is known other than one question. Is Amy seeing someone behind Marco Arzabe's back?" She continued to explain how long Amy and Marco were together.
Amy saw the news reporter. She just decided that she didn't want to deal with it and went straight to her car. She had no idea what the news reporter was saying, but at that moment she didn't care. Stuffing the box into the back of the car she jumped in.
A few minutes later, Amy walked in the door of her house...
