Sarah had waited long enough. Two hours had gone by, and Amy Lona had not shown up. She called the cell phone numerous times, no answer. So now she would take it up to the next level.
She angrily dialed the home number.

Marco had just finished showering as he heard the phone ring. He wrapped a towel around his waist and went into the hall to answer the trilling phone. Caller ID showed his wife's work, but she shouldn't be calling him at this hour...and it wasn't her extension. So he answered the phone with a curious tone, "Hello?"

Sarah exhaled. "At least someone has the decency to answer their phone. Hi, Mr. Arzabe, is Amy there?" She felt like she should be polite enough to at least ask that. She was not the best boss, but she always wanted to treat people with respect, unless, of course, angry.

"Isn't she there?" Marco replied, carrying the cordless with him to the bedroom so that he could get dressed as he talked to Amy's boss, feeling weird talking on the phone in nothing but a towel, "I mean, she left here in plenty of time to be there already..."

Sarah quirked an eyebrow. "No, she's not here." She crossed her arms as she put Marco on speakerphone. "If I didn't know better, I'd swear Amy would be off galavanting with some other..." She flinched. "I apologize, Mr. Arzabe. It was uncalled for. But if you see Amy, tell her that her and I will need to have a talk the next time she decides to grace us with her presence." She added a bit of a snarl at the end, seething with rage.

Marco narrowed his eyes, letting out a sigh. He didn't like Sarah's tone at all. And he certainly didn't like her insinuating an affair, "I'm sure Amy has a VERY good reason for not being there."
he had no idea what that reasn might be, and he was beginning to worry. Afterall, the Yeerks had already targetted his wife once, they might try again.

Sarah scoffed, "Yeah, a reason to be two hours late when she has court tomorrow? I'd like to hear this one."

So would I Marco thought, ballancing the phone between his shoulder and ear as he got dressed, "She probably had car trouble or something."
He hoped she had only had car trouoble. But knowing his luck, it wasn't that simple.

"Anyways, when you see her, can you be sure to tell her that there will be a meeting held after court tomorrow?" So we can discuss what she did today...

'Yeah, I'll let her know." Marco replied. He couldn't help but feel a sense of forboding. Something tol him tomorrows meeting would not go well.

"Okay, great." In a fake cheery voice, "I'm glad we could work this out, Mr. Arzabe. I look forward to speaking with her tomorrow." Then she said bye and hung up.

Marco rolled his eye as he noted the fake nature of her tone. She was a real pleasure to talk to...
He heard the click from the ther end of the line and, now dressed all except for his shirt, he carted the phone back to it's port in the hall.
