Amy sat there and said, "Yeah, tons. Like I wished for this to happen." She sat there, silent as she watched Ruth read. "So what are your plans exactly? Why am I here? You just going to sit there and read? That's pretty boring."

Ruth dropped the book when Amy asked of her plans. She really hadn't thought that part through... "Uh.....we'll see... And yes, I'm going to sit here and read. It most certainly is not boring." Then she thought a moment. "Hmm....what am I going to do...probably should've planned this better...."

"Gee, you think? God, aren't you a moron?" Amy Lona's fear had vanished when this lady hadn't planned it all through. "What did you do, think you could kidnap me and I would just sit here?! And yes, reading THAT book is boring. I should know, I'm a lawyer. I don't need to read about other Lawyer's lives when I have my own..."

Ruth snapped at the word moron. "MORON! MORON?!? YOU DON'T KNOW WHO YOU'RE TALKING TO! AND THIS BOOK BETTER NOT BE BORING!!!! I WROTE IT!!!" She now had the gun back in her hand and was waving it at Amy like some kind of psycho. Wait, a lawyer? Aw, crap....

Amy sat there watching as Ruth went crazy. She scoffed, "Well, then, it must be the most exciting thing in the world, wouldn't it?" Then under her breath, she added, "Only you would read it..." She watched nervously as the gun went waving around.

Marco was getting increasingly worried when Amy hadn't called him. He picked up his phone and dialed out, hoping he could reach her cell. The boss had said SHE couldn't, but maybe Amy was doing something like taking a spa day and didn't want to be bothered with work. It would be a stupid way to piss off your boss, and it wasn't the sort of thing she would do, but it was Marco's last hope when everything seemed to point to othe Yeerks having struck again.
The phone rang.

Out of the blue, Amy's cell phone rang, but this time she couldn't silence it. She could tell it was her husband with the ringtone. Which meant, she felt her eyes light up with hope, Sarah had called home. Granted, Sarah was a...well, she wasn't even going to go there. She just wished she could answer the phone.

Ruth heard the phone ring, and loosened the rope around Amy's arms. "Answer it. I want you to tell me who it is and what they want. You will say only what I tell you to say, understand?"

Amy got her phone out with a shaky hand and answered, "H-Hello?" She already knew who it was, but didn't want Ruth to know that. She also knew that she had the power to morph, but she couldn't use it, not with being pregnant.

"Who is it?" Ruth's tone was sharp. She still had the gun pointed at Amy. "Tell me, who is it? I could always shoot...."

"Honey?" Marco's tone was filled with concern. Something in his wife's voice gave away that she was troubled, r nervous at the very least, "What's wrong?"
He loked at the clock, wondering where she might be. The second hand ticked slowly by as he waited for her answer. He could hear a voice in the background, "Where are you? Who's with you?"

Amy cast a nervous glance at Ruth, and moved the phone away, while telling her, "It's Marco. He wants some answers." She didn't know what to say right then. The gun was pointing at her and Marco's voice was filled with concern, and she knew her voice sounded different.
She also knew that her snappiness towards Ruth was due to the pregnancy. It was how she had acted when pregnant with both Eva and Laura. She was still shaking, not wanting Ruth to shoot.

"Marco?!?" Ruth exclaimed, then quieted to a whisper, still holding the gun. "You ran out of gas a mile from the grocery store, and you're getting some more. You're paying for it now. Tell him you're talking to the cashier now." Her voice didn't waver as she kept the gun steady on Amy.

Amy shook as she brought the phone back to her ear. "I'm a mile from the grocery store. My car ran out of gas. Paying for it now. You're, uh, hearing the cashier..." She was not good at lying to Marco, to anyone else, yes, but not Marco.

Marco listened to his wife's words. There was still something wrong with her tone, and he didn't think she was at the gas station at all. But if the Yeerks had her, the lie would have been much more convincing. Now he was confused. Just where exactly was she, and what was going on?
"Okaaay," Marco replied. Then, being sure to keep his voice quiet he said, "So you can't tell me where you are? J-just play along with whatever's going on...Tell whoevers there that I believed you. And try to be more convincing about it."
