Marco was lounging in the pool out back when he heard the phone ring. He climbed out of the water, towled himself off and walked through a pair of large sliding doors into the living room. From there he made his way into the kitchen, scooping up a cordless phone and pressing the talk button, "Hello?"

Darn, he answered,Eva thought bitterly to herself. "Hey, Dad. I didn't interrupt anything, did I?" She bit her lip. "I'm going to be late coming home today. I hope you don't mind."

"I was just going for a swim," He replied, "So nothing important. Everything okay?"
It was odd for his daughter to call in the middle of the day from school, he hoped nothing bad had happened. Then when she told him she would be late, he sighed, "Detention again? What did you do this time?"

"Oh, ouch, Dad. How can you even think it's detention?" She joked. Then she grew serious. "I lost track of time talking to Carson. I'm sorry. He got detention, too." At least it wasn't major. But she knew she was most likely in trouble.

Marco quirked a brow at her comment, a small smirk creeping over his lips. His daughter definitely had his sense of humour. He sighed softly, "At least you didn't burn down the school or anything."
Everyone lost track of time now and then, but Marco had a feeling there was more to the story than that. She'd been up to something, she was a mischief maker, and he knew it, "Come right home after, then, okay?"

"Like I would rather be anywhere else?" Eva couldn't help but laugh. "I just hope Uncle Jake and Aunt Cassie aren't mad at me." Not really wanting to go back to class, she asked, "Have you had a good day so far, though, Dad?"

Marco knew his child was stalling, he'd done so his fair share of times in his own youth, "I've been having a great day, a wonderful day, a marvelous day! The sun is warm, the sky is clear, and your mother looks great in a bikini."
He let out a laugh, knowing this would probably gross any normal child out. It was his effort to chase he off the phone, but it certainly wasn't a lie as he looked out the window at his spouse.

Eva shuddered. "Too much info, Dad. Really too much info." She shuddered again. "Okay, okay. I know what you're getting at. You want me to go to class, am I right?" Knowing for a fact that was it, she said, "All right, heading back. Love you, Dad."

Marco laughed at his daughter's reaction. Just what he'd expected from her, "Heh, yeah, get back to class you little trouble maker. And try not to get any more detentions! Love you too."

Eva laughed. "I get that from you, you know. See you when I get home." She hung up the phone and returned to class. She was sitting there trying to pay attention when she fell asleep. Luckily the teacher either didn't notice or didn't care.
