(sounded interesting) Cassie had been talking on the phone for the last fifteen minutes. "All right, fine. I'll go." She said exasperated. She listened to the other end of the line and then said, "All right. I'll let you know what time I can be there." She hung up the phone and went over to where Jake was. "Uh, Jake? I need to talk to you." She stood there, unsure of what to do.

Jake had been in the kitchen. He was getting something to drink, because he had become thirsty all of a sudden. He then heard Cassie's voice from behind. He turned around and walked over to her. "What is it Cassie?" he asked.

Cassie shifted onto one foot, the way she does when she feels even slightly nervous. She didn't even know why she was. "Well, you know it's been three weeks since the...incident. I just got a call saying that Martin and Shianna both have been fired and they want me to come back."

Jake frowned a bit. Cassie was shifting around on her foot. Having been with her for so long he had picked up on it meaning she was nervous. He could see why she would be when she finally spoke.
"Do you want to go back?" he asked her.

Cassie shifted again. "Well, not really, but they said they chose someone more fit for the job and there's no Yeerk in his head. They were practically begging. They want me to come to this business party to meet this guy. They also said that I didn't have to decide now." Cassie shifted back to her other foot. "They also said it was for employees only."

Jake thought this over a bit. He didn't really want her to go back either. And emploees only? That was bull. "If you want to check it out then you should," he started off. "But I'll come with you just in case," He held her close. 'I don't want to feel like I've lost you again,"

Cassie wrapped her arms around him, feeling some tears forming up. "I don't want to lose you either." If she could have stayed like that forever she would have. A few minutes later, she said, "I should probably call and get them to let you in."

Jake held onto her for awhile until she finally spoke. "Alright go ahead," he told her. He'd make sure nothing would happen to her this time

Cassie picked up the phone. Dialing the number, Cassie waited. She shifted to her other foot. She needed to quit doing that! "Hello?" "Hey, it's Cassie. Listen, I'm only going if Jake can go with me." "Hey, Cassie. How you feeling? I'm sorry, Cassie, you know that's against our protocol. He's lucky that he even knows where you work." "Listen, Janet, I know that. I understand that, but since the incident, I'm not even sure if I want to walk into that building alone right now." "We can always have an employee meet you outside." Cassie shook her head in disbelief, and looked at Jake, not knowing what to say.

Jake watched as she talked on the phone. It didn't sound good. When she looked to him for help, he motioned for her to give him the phone. He then spoke into it. "Listen. She's not going in there unless I'm with her. Last time the building explodeded. And I frankly don't trust anyone there. So she isn't going unless I can be there."

The woman on the other end gulped. "Well, sir...it is protocol that it is only employees attending..."

Jake inturrputed her before she continued. He made sure to put a more stern tone in his voice. "Listen carefully. Either I go with her to this thing, or she doesn't go at all. Understand?" he told her.

"Okay, let me patch you through to the supervisor." Cassie shifted to her other foot, and watched intently. She wasn't nervous about what Jake would say, she was nervous on what the other people on the other end would do. She trusted Jake completely.

"Alright then," Jake said. He started to wait to be patched through to the supervisor. Whoever it was they were going to know Cassie wasn't going unless he was there.

Eva was doing paperwork when one of her employees patched a call through. "Great, what complaints are there this time?"
She answered. "Good Evening. This is Eva Arzabe speaking. How may I be of service?"
