Aaron's eyes scanned the halls of the school as he walked through them. Another day in a string of ordinary days that had been his life. For once he wished for something exciting to happen. His mom had been a teenager during a time when there had been an alien invasion. Admittedly one of his mom's friends had died in that war, but something like that would be so much better than this.
He didn't say much as he made his way through the halls. His stuttering kept him from saying hi to everyone he knew, mostly just waving or nodding if someone said something to him. Yeah, yeerk war. That's never happening again. Get a grip, this is going to be just another day.

Esprea moved her host down the hallway. <LET ME GO! GET OUT OF MY HEAD! OUT OF MY HEAD!!!!> Eva screamed. <Oh, not a chance, my dear. I am about to get promoted to Visser Four. And it's all thanks to you. You should be honored.> <Out, out, OUT! My dad said I was not to be in any wars! Leave me alone! Go away get out!> Eva started crying, begging, anything she could think of. Esprea saw a boy down the hall and gave him a small smile.

Aaron smiled back at Eva. He recognized her face and name, of course who wouldn't recognize the kids of the Animorphs. Aaron hadn't benefited from anything after the war. His grandfather has just been another controller. His mom had just been a free human. It wasn't anything to be proud of. It hadn't made them famous in either a good or bad way.
Eva was just a name and a face to Aaron though. He'd never gotten to know her or any of the other Animorph kids.

Jackie watched the scene as she got her stuff from her locker. She was in control as she moved toward Eva, but when they got close, Illan took over, which Jackie was comfortable with. She wasn't sure of her acting abilities and constantly feared blowing something.
"That was an interesting meeting yesterday." she said. "It's very good that both of us are involved in it." She knew that Eva's yeerk may or may not have seen Jackie in the cage, but would likely know her face.
Jackie knew it was risky, so did Illan, but it was normal controller stuff. neither Eva's yeerk or other controllers would think much of the coded talking at the moment. They just had to be careful in case Eva's yeerk decided to say anything to anyone else.
<I'm acting like the fact there are two Animorph children involved is already known...she likely won't realize yet that they don't.>
<I hope you're right.>

Eva continued to scream, cry, beg, plead, do the stuff a normal involuntary host would do. "Yes. It was. Are you ready for the next meeting?" Eva heard herself ask. Yet it wasn't her. She hated this. She wanted to be the one to talk to her father, to talk to Uncle Jake, to talk to her sister and everyone else. She wanted to be the one to walk, to have control, but she couldn't. <That's right, Evelyn. You're mine now. MINE!> <I don't believe it. Jackie's one of them? She's been infested? NO!!!! It Can't happen! OUT OF MY HEAD YEERK!> Esprea smiled. It looked like a good place to smile, but she loved to have a fighting host.

Aaron couldn't help but listen to this conversation as it was taking place because his locker was right around here too. What was this club they'd been in that had met last night? As far as he'd known the only thing going on last night had been detention. That seemed to fit Eva, from what he'd heard getting in trouble was something she did a lot, but he wasn't so sure about Jackie. He knew Jackie's brother was a good friend of Eva's so it would have made sense if it was Carson. But meeting didn't make sense no matter how Aaron twisted it.
Stop it. Listening to them is only going to get you into trouble. He couldn't help glancing in their direction anyways.

<I'm just glad you're handling this. Acting was never my strong point.> She sighed in her head. <I wish I could give her a sign of some kind but that would blow us for sure.>
<I know. I'm sure we both know what she's going through. Just keep the thought in mind that even though it may take longer than you'd like, we can hope to get her free eventually.>
"Yeah, it should be exciting"
<That still feels wierd. I just hope no one tries slipping me anyone else...and that I can trust you.I'd be scared out of my head. How do the rest of you ignore it so easily? I don't understand.>
<I would like that answer as well. We'd make a lot more progress if we knew.>
<You're telling me.>

Esprea nodded. "Yeah. I'm actually planning on going over to study with Carson. Are you going to be there?" <You leave them out of this! OUT!> Eva was in hysterics. <Not a chance...> Esprea shifted Eva's body to a more comfortable position, and smiled.

"W-what's this c-club you g-guys are t-talking about," Aaron stuttered out softly. It was a bold move especially seeing as he didn't really know Jackie or Eva at all. He was hoping being near enough and not being able to help overhearing was a good enough excuse. If it wasn't he wasn't sure what to say to save face.

Esprea heard a soft sound. She turned Eva's head. "I'm sorry? I didn't hear you." <He said you are a conniving little worm! When my Dad or Uncle Jake finds out, you will be in so much trouble!> Esprea snorted in her head. <They're not going to find out. Obviously, 'Uncle' Jake hasn't even realized that Jackie is a controller. One would think that he would know that his own daughter was a controller.> Eva snorted. <He'll find out soon enough! Then you'll die, Yeerk!> Esprea ignored Eva. Instead she turned her attention to...what was his name? She searched Eva's memory. Aaron. "Aaron, right?"

"Y-yeah," Aaron stuttered. He wouldn't have realized she'd known his name. Probably a just around school thing. He had never actually introduced himself to her or any of the Animorph's kids, though apparently Rachel was somehow alive again and his mom had talked about getting back in touch. Aaron was having the worst time remembering the names of Rachel and Tobias's kids and he was possibly going to meet them soon.... And your head is getting off subject.
"I asked what the c-club you t-two were t-talking about was," he said, loud enough to be heard this time. He shifted the books in his arms as he said this, getting them situated so he wouldn't drop them.

Esprea thought. <What was it they used to call it? Oh the Sharing, so that's out....ah hah!> Eva smiled at him, and said, "Oh, we're opening up a club called the Caring. You wanna join? It would be fun." <Why are you doing this?! Huh? WHY?!> Eva wanted to fight, but she couldn't. <Oh, come now. He'll be a perfect host. Besides, the sooner we get out of here, the sooner we can turn the others in.> <NO! I WILL NOT TELL YOU-> <Who the other children are? You mean, Carson, Kodiac, Taipa, and Laura? Oh, I know. I can read your thoughts and feelings. Everything, no matter what.> Esprea laughed at Eva's loss of hope. How was Eva going to get out of this?

"The C-caring? D-doesn't that sound an awful lot like that g-group the y-yeerks ran when our p-parents were our age? The Sharing? Then again, that d-doesn't say it c-can't be done. B-borrow the idea and just n-not have the m-membership fee," he said with a sarcastic laugh. He wasn't quite as convinced as he sounded, but he wasn't going to let on.
"I'll think about it and l-let you kn-know." He smiled as he responded. He certainly could investigate the group, possibly ask his grandpa about it. Grandpa was still a teacher at the school, so he might know something about it. Eva is the daughter of an Animorph. If I was a yeerk I'd definitely infest someone like that.... question is would a real yeerk think the same way?

Esprea laughed. "You silly, there is no more invasion. The Yeerks left us." "Okay, that would be good." Esprea smiled at him and turned back to Jackie. "Sorry about that. Attention spam isn't that great today." She laughed. She sounded just like Eva.... And that's what scared Eva the most... How would anyone find out?

Jackie knew they had to tread carefully, she knew that Eva's yeerk was likely looking for a chance to get the others captured.
<I know you're worried...we might not have a choice but to tell someone. If the yeerk has tapped into her thoughts, and it likely has, it knows everything she does.
<Yeah tell me about it. Sometimes that part still annoys me. At least you make an effort to be somewhat careful.>
Luckily, Eva's yeerk was now distracted by the boy, Chapman. It would be complicated to figure out how to shoo him off without blowing their cover, but they'd both be thinking about it.
"They might be...I should find out." she let Illan say. Hopefully, it would sound hopeful without giving away any harmful information and maybe give them a chance to think of a plan.
