Eva got up quickly and brushed herself off while grumbling, "Yeah, sure. Laugh at the one who didn't expect to hear her own father's voice in her head. Made me think I went insane." Then she shuddered when he started talking about bugs. "Ew. Uncle Jake had to as well? What did you two do on your spare time?!"

"Yeah, Jake had to too. We all did. Let me tell you, if you think watching me morph is weird, try watching a bird turn into a bug." He shuddered as the vision of Tobias tranforming into a flea.
"Spare time? There wasn't much. Between school and fighting a full time war on alien slugs, well...things were pretty busy." He paused, trying to think what they did do on their few occassions of free time, "Sometimes we'd morph birds and just fly, but Jake discouraged morphing for fun. So we'd usually just play video games if we had free time."

Eva raised an eyebrow. "A bird...morph to bug? Who had to do that?" She asked as she tilted her head to the side. She had a twinkle in her eye from all of the excitement, learning about her father being an Animorph.

"Tobias." Marco replied, sitting in one of the lounge chairs by the pool, "On our first mission he was trapped as a hawk. If you stay in morph more than two hours, you get trapped."
Here Laura let out a soft gasp, feeling a pang of sympathy for Tobias, she would have hated being trapped as an animal!
"Eventually the Ellimist gave him back his powers, so he could morph again, but he had to remain trapped as a hawk when not in morph." Marco continued his explanaition, leaving out the part about how no one ever could figure out if he'd trapped himself on purpose, or if it had been an accident.

Eva quirked an eyebrow. "But isn't he human now that can still morph?" She held her head. "I am so confused." She shook her head and then looked at her dad. "So how could he have been a bird? If he's human?"

"Remember Mr. Ellimist? He can do just about aything." Marco explained with a sigh. He didn't really uderstand it either, but he was sure the Ellimist had something to do with it. Why, if Tobias was going to get his morphig powers AND human form back ayhow the Ellimist hadn't just done that to begin with, he had no idea.
"Well," Laura ventured, "I guess this Ellimist guy is't all bad."
"Ah," Marco countered with a grim smile, "But everything comes at a price. I have no idea what Tobias had to give up to get his human form back and still be able to morph."

Eva tilted her head, and said, "Did you ever have to make a deal with The Ellimist? I hope not. He's a jerk." Eva crossed her arms.
