Cass rested in the passenger seat and looked over at him. "Honestly, I totally forgot about that.I haven't morphed in years. Probably since you were three or four."
Cass stayed silent throughout the rest of the ride home, and she was thinking of everything. The fact that she could have lost her son today scared her half to death, enough to where she felt like she was about to collapse. She held onto the car door for a second regaining herself.

"Well, I tend to morph every now and then. Never like that, though. That was the first time I used the tiger, but my mom was in trouble." He smiled at her.
Pulling up in the yard, he parked the car. He hopped out of the car and helped his mom to the door. "You gonna be okay?"

Cass returned the smile and said, "Morphing can be fun sometimes." She nodded. "Yeah, I'll be fine."
She went with Ty inside the house and looked around. "Comforts of home, right?" She walked inside. "I hate my jobs sometimes."

"You sure?" He asked, opening the door for her. "I find it fun," he said as he walked inside and sat on the couch resting.
Ty looked at her when she mentioned hating her jobs. "Mom...I've got something to tell you. I...got a part time job at the grocery store so you're not the only one bringing in money."

Cass nodded. "Yeah, I'm sure." She smiled at him, thinking of what a blessing it was to have him in her life.
Though what he said next made her miss her seat and fall on the floor with a resounding THUD. "You what now?" She blinked up at him.

Ty helped Cass up when she hit the floor. He DEFINITELY wasn't expecting that kind of reaction, and it made his face flush a little. He looked at the ground.
He regained his inner strength, looking her in the eye. "I'm a bag-boy at the grocery store now. I'm not gonna lay around the house all day long while you work three jobs. It isn't fair," he said firmly, yet with respect.

Cass placed a hand on Ty's shoulder. "Tyler...you don't have to do that..." She looked at him with soft eyes. "Really. I'm okay..."
She gave him a hug. "I'm not stopping you, but I seriously think that you don't need to." She smiled a little at him.

Ty shook his head. "Yes. I do," was all he said as she hugged him.
"Look, I know you don't think I have to do this, but I feel that I do. It's time I've done my part. Look at what happened, and what almost happened because of your third job. I could have lost you tonight. TWICE." He broke down and started crying.
"I can do this. You just have to let me help..."

"Don't you understand, Tyler? You are doing your part by being here. You've done wonders, and you don't even realize it yet." She sighed as she sat down again.
"Listen...you and I...we can morph...not a lot of people can do that. I know a few that can. But with this morphing power, you'll never lose me, okay? Not like that." She stood up and gave him a hug, wrapping her arms around him protectively.

He looked into her eyes. "But, Mom...I don't wanna do wonders...I wanna make your life easier like you did mine...is that so wrong?"
He smiled when she wrapped her arms around him. "But...morphing can't prevent you getting hurt on the job. And like you said, you tend to forget you can morph. If you were to get hurt any worse....."

Cass smiled. "No, it's not wrong...you being here has made my life easier by ten miles..." She sighed. "It's your decision. You're a legal adult, I shouldn't be so parental about this."
Cass sighed. "I won't be hurt worse. I won't be hurt at all by anyone. I promise. I love you, and you know me. I'll never break that promise. Not if I can help it."

Ty sighed. "I...don't like you working that third job. It scares me, okay? What if there's another night like tonight where you can't help it? There's no guarantee that something like this won't happen again...."
"At first, this job was just another way to provide income, but after what happened tonight..." He calmed down and threw his arms around her, sobbing. "I'm sorry. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but after I came in and saw you and Jay the other night, I can't help it..."

"I know it scares you, love. It won't happen. We're hiring bodyguards. Or whatever you call them. They break up the fights. I'll be in the bar the whole time."
Ty threw his arms around her and she went into her comforting mode. "Shh...I know...I know. I understand completely." She held him close. "It's hard, I know...I'm sorry..."

"Okay...I guess. That helps a little...." he said, laying his head on her shoulder. "I know you can take care of yourself. I just can't help but worry."
He closed his eyes. "Mom? Are...you....really....seeing him?" He looked up at her pleadingly before closing his eyes.

Cass looked at Ty wondering what he was thinking. "Well...honestly, I don't know. He sort of...kissed me and I naturally responded...I don't know what to feel..." She looked at her hands.
Cass looked up at him, and said, "But I believe I'm better at telling who's lying and who's telling the truth than I was eighteen years ago. I'd know if he was pulling up a front..."
