Eva walked into the house a few minutes after Carson and her competed against each other on Dance Evolution. She had entirely forgotten about the game that Uncle Jake had told them about. There's always another day. "Dad?" She walked in the kitchen. "Are you working right now?"

Marco looked up from the newspaper he'd been scanning for any hint at all of the Yeerks activities. This time around, the enemy had been forced into open combat, an it gave the Animorphs an edge. But his family would always come first, that was something he couldn't and wouldn't change. He set the paper aside, sensing something was wrong with his child, "No. What's up, Princess?"

Eva sat down next to her father and asked a bit thoughtful. "How did you know Mom was the one you were going to spend the rest of your life with?" She hoped this was the way to start it.

Marco blinked, looking at Eva. This was going to be one of those awkward, complicated conversations, he could just tell. He would have mentioned that she was a bit young to be thinking of such things, but Jake and Cassie had gotten married, and Tobias had never move on after Rachel died...and bringing Rachel back had lead to a past where they'd gotten married and had children. Marco was the only one who hadn't married a childhod sweetheart.
He rubbed the back of his neck, "That's a little hard to explain...it's just one of those things where you know. You may think you know other times...but when the one you're gonna marry comes along...it's like nothing you've ever felt before...and you know you'll never feel it again."
It was a lousy explanaition, and he knew it.

Eva sat there, taking in everything her father was saying. Then she leaned on him and groaned a little. "That doesn't help my problem at all." She thought about how to approach this. "Dad, what do you think of Carson?"

Marco wrapped an arm around his daughter, trying his best to provide some comfort to her, "Yeah, I guess it doesn't."
He sighed softly. He'd always thought of himself as a ladies man, but that didn't mean he knew alot about serious relationships. The only really serious one he'd had had been with Amy Lona. Then came the question that sent his eyes wide and caused him to drop his arm from her shoulders as he stared at Eva, "Wait...Jake and Cassie's Carson?"

Eva felt a bit comforted as her father wrapped an arm around her, but had to look up when it slid off. His eyes were wide, and he had asked that question. "Erm, yeah...?" She knew he wasn't going to like the idea much.

Well, she could definantly do worse than Jake's son...but the two were always getting into trouble. Besides, Marco remembered what he and Jake...well...more him than Jake...had been like as children. Little boyus were trouble, and his little girl didn't know how much trouble they were.
"I see..." He stated flatly, trying to wrap his mind around the idea.

Eva pouted. "Daddy, Carson's not a bad guy. Besides, I don't even know if he likes me like that anyways." She sighed, leaning her head on his shoulder. "I don't even know what to do about it. We were just dancing...oh! Before I forget....Carson and I, er, well, might be on some tabloids..."

Marco was getting over the shock of his daughter falling for his best friend's son when another alarming statement came out of her mouth. He frowned slightly, "Tabloids, huh?"
He sighed and gave a shrug, it was inevitable, and besides, he'd never been shy about the media, "Well, that's to be expected, dancing around out in public. I hope they at least got your good side." He gave a wink to his daughter, "Not that we Arzabe's HAVE bad sides."
He got a serious look again, "Now, as for Carson...he and I are gonna have to have a talk, I think."

Eva giggled a little. "Yeah, that's good." Eva quirked an eyebrow at the comment about Carson and her dad having a talk. "Dad? What are you gonna do?"

Marco shrugged with a mischevious smirk, "Oh, just talk. You know, lay down some rules for dating my daughter..." He stood and kissed her forhead, "Gotta make sure my little princess is well taken care of!"

Eva smiled at her father, and closed her eyes when he kissed her forehead. "Are you going to talk to him now?! Dad, I don't even know what he feels about this..." She sighed. "I think he might be playing b-ball at his house."

"I guess it can wait till you figure out how he feels, but I want to talk to him before you two get serious about anything." He replied, seeing that she was uneasy about his wanting to talk to Carson right away, "And the best advice I can give as far as figuring out how he feels, is ask."
He shrugged, giving her a smile. He'd waited ages for Jake and Cassie to finally hook up when they were young, and he knew it would be hard on his daughter not knowing. Besides, the sooner she found out how Carson felt, the sooner Marco could talk to the boy.

Eva hugged her father. "Thanks, Dad. I really needed to hear that. And of course you can talk to him before anything gets serious. You remember what happened last time." Eva didn't like her last attempt at dating and hoped Carson was better.
