Cassie stood rigid as Ronnie started talking. A large swarm of feelings came over her. She had no clue where they came from: anger, sadness, weariness, confusion. Why would Ronnie say that? She knew for a fact that leaving unannounced was the only way to go. Especially since that day, Ronnie was drunk much like today. But that little fact didn't change what Cassie was feeling. "My fault? I didn't ruin our relationship, Ronnie. That was you! I don't see how it could be my fault. You and I both know that you chose to go out there and do..that!" She couldn't bring it up to herself to say it. Looking at Ronnie, she knew that he was about to say that she always blamed it on other people. They've had this fight before. "You don't know me, Ronnie. I know what you're going to say. I don't blame others that aren't at fault. I know I've made mistakes. I made a mistake a long time ago. A mistake that I blame myself for. I can only blame myself for it. I-" she stopped for a second as she realized herself that it was true. "I hurt Jake, saying No the first time and then saying yes to you all of a year later. Even if I could have put all that blame onto someone else, I wouldn't. I'm not heartless. So, if you're just going to keep on saying it's my fault, then just go, Ronnie." She pinched the bridge of her nose, and felt the tears rolling down. Not because of the pain Ronnie has caused, but coming to terms with herself. "Ronnie, just go." She turned away from both Ronnie and Jake, grabbed the box and then turned back. She couldn't say anything else.

Ronnie stepped back as if he had been hit. So, it seemed Cassie had a little more backbone. She told him to go, and then nothing. He nodded and quietly made his way back towards the exit, stumbling on his every step. Good thing he was with a friend...

Jake frowned. He hadn't heard any of that from Cassie. Though it seemed her speech shocked Ronnie as well. He left, leaving them alone.
He walked up to her. "Are you ok?" he asked.

Cassie was a little shocked at herself. She didn't mean to talk about all that. Just to get the point across. Then Jake walked over to her and asked if she was okay. Truthfully she wasn't sure. She didn't know how Jake would react seeing as she never talked about it to him before. Drawing in a shaky breath and wiping away any tears that were left, she nodded. "I will be." She gave him a small smile.

Jake gave her a soft smile back. "Good," he told her. "C'mon, we've been here long enough, let's finish up the shopping,"

Cassie nodded. "We've here for way too long, if you ask me." She looked at Jake a bit apologetically. "I say an hour and fifty five minutes too long." She grabbed the cart and swung it around towards the cashiers. "Ready?"

Jake smiled at her. "I was ready an hour and fifty five minutes ago," he joked. "Let's get going,"

Cassie laughed at Jake's joke as she started unloading the cart. "We're not forgetting anyone, are we?" She bit her lip. "Are Rachel and Tobias planning on coming over?" She really couldn't remember who was coming.

Earth was a great place. A truly wonderful planet. Full of all sorts of amazing-
"Jesse! Put down the cupcake and pay attention!" Alice said. Jesse turned to see his adopted daughter glaring at him.
"I'm never going to convince you to call me dad am I?" He said.
"Says the man stuffing his face with cupcakes." Alice said. "I get that you missed cupcakes, but so do I, and if I can stay focused on grocery shopping, so can you. I really want thanksgiving to go well this year, so I need you to help me get everything on this list."
"You know, sometimes it seems like there's something a bit odd about our Father-daughter dynamic." Jesse said, putting his arm around the teen.
"Just go get the peas." Alice said with a smirk and a laugh. Jesse gave her a hug and set off towards the canned foods. As he passed the registers his eyes caught a familiar site.
"Jake? Cassie? Is that you?"

Cassie heard her name being called as well as Jake's. She turned and smiled at the familiar figure. "Jesse. What brings you here? Shopping for Thanksgiving?"

"Yeah. Well getting the peas. Alice over there's doing the cooking. Wait, did you ever meet Alice?" Jesse motioned for Alice to come over. The teen rolled her eyes and walked over.
"What is it Jes-" She stopped halfway through her sentence. "Cassie and Jake Berenson? No way!"
"Hey now!" Jesse said.
"Sorry, I knew you fought with them but I never thought I'd meet them myself." Alice held out her hand. "Alice Taylor, Jesse's adopted daughter. Big fan."

Jake raised an eyebrow. He hadn't seen Jesse around in awhile. "Hi, Jesse," he said. He was surprised to see the girl with him though. He hadn't met his adopted daughter.
Though he still wasn't used to people's reactions whenever they met him. He grabbed her hand and shook it. "Nice to meet you,"

Cassie was the second to shake Alice's hand. "Nice to meet you." She smiled as she finished unloading the cart. "Are you liking it here?" She asked.

"Well it beats Darwin IV. Being chased by an Arrowtongue is not my idea of a fun time." Alice said, shooting a look at Jesse.
"I'm not the one who turned on the radio on a planet where the main sense is echolocation. I warned you not to bring it, Darwin IV is supposed to be kept clear of interference, you should feel lucky to have even been allowed on the surface." Jesse said.
"I told you it was an accident! I forgot I had the radio on me." Alice shook her head. "I'm going to get the turkey." She added, walking away.
"Alice, wait." Jesse said, but Alice just kept walking. "I have to be the dumbest dad in the galaxy..." He said with a sigh.

Cassie watched as Alice walked away and was at first a bit shocked. "No, you're not, Jesse. It's probably just hard for her to adjust. Things will work out." She sent him a reassuring smile. She couldn't think of anything else to say.
