The wind blew through Laura's curls as she rode her bike through the park. It was another nice California day, and she wasn't about to let it waste away. She pedaled along the paved pathways, past swingsets and tennis courts, slides and seesaws.
Coming across a water fountain she pulled her bike over and stopped for a drink. She pushed the bar on the side of the fountain in, sipping in the sweet, cool liquid.

Jae walked through the park in her human form, looking around and watching the humans in interest. She noticed a young girl riding her bike and was curious. She walked over and touched the seat as Laura stopped to get some water. She reached down and touched the pedal, then looked over at Laura. "Excuse me. How does this work?" She touched the handlebar.

Laura blinked as the woman came over and started touching various parts of the bike, it was definantly odd. She canted her head to the side, watching curiously until the woman spoke, questioning how the bike worked, "You never learned to ride a bike?"
It never occured to Laura to think that maybe this woman wasn't what she appeared. She had never met an Andalite before, afterall.

She shook her head. "I am only just learning about humans. Your kind has a fascinating culture." She reached out and pushed the lever on the bell, jumping a little as it rang. She smiled a bit and chuckled, then pulled on the hand brake, trying to figure out what it did.

"Uh-huh." Laura quirked a brow as she continued to watch the stranger mess with her bike. Just learning about humans? What did that mean? He eyes widened as she began putting the pieces together, "Oh...Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh!"
She pointed a trembling finger at the woman, grinning in excitement, "You're an Andalite! I've heard about you guys! My dad told me! I mean, naturally people know about the Andalites these days, but not as much as Dad."
She was clearly excited at the prospect of meeting her first alien, her dark eyes gleaming happilly.

She looked up at the girl as she became excited and smiled a little. "Yes I am. I am Jaealimi Vegath Iroth." She held her hand out. "Though the Humans I have already befriended call me Jae. What is your name?" She cocked her head to the side.

"Jae, huh? Has a nice ring to it!" She smiled and took the Andalite's hand without a second thought, "Laura. Laura Arzabe. Nice to meet you!"
She gestured to the bike, "Wanna try learning how to ride?"

Jae smiled a little and looked down at the bike. "Is it hard?" She reached down and pushed the pedal a bit, jumping a bit as the bike moved a few inches. She looked up at Laura and closed her eyes a moment, concentrating on the time she had left. She looked back at Laura. "I will have to Demorph soon."

"It normally takes a long time, yeah. I mean, most people start when they're little with training wheels..." She scratched the back of her head, smiling sheepishly, "And Andalites are used to four legs, huh? So the balance might be a bit of a problem...with just the two wheels I mean."
As Jae mentioned the morphing time Laura nodded, "Oh yeah, Dad mentioned that."

She nodded a little, then looked at the bike, still curious. "So how does one operate it?" She tugged on the hand brake again.

"Well," Laura pointed to the brake that Jae was investigating, "You use that to stop. As for riding, you sit here," She pointed to the seat then to the pedals, "And you push these with your feet."

She nodded a little and moved to sit on the seat. She started to fall a bit, but caught herself with one foot. She looked over at Laura. "Like this?" She let go of the brake.

"Right," Laura nodded as she spoke, "Just like that. It takes a while to learn to balance, that's why most human kid's use training wheels. But once you get the hang of it, it's easy."

She looked down and pushed the pedal, starting to move a bit. She teetered a bit and looked over at her. "I don't think I can do this."

"It just takes practice, is all." Laura reassured the Andalite, a soft smile on her features. She wondered if they made training wheels for adult type bikes, maybe she could get some fo Jae, and help her learn. She had a feeling she wouldn't be able to find the training wheels in the right size, though. They probably had to be special ordered, "Keep trying. If you want, I can get you a helmet and pads, and we can practice every day till you get it. It'll have to be after school though."
