Helen sat across the street from the Berenson house deciding what to do. She could probably morph something small, a rat or a fly maybe. Get into a window, demorph, morph a black mamba and-
No. This wasn't an assassination. She needed to make contact with Mr. Berenson, not attack. Maybe what Robert had said was the best option, simply walk up and knock on the door. Helen took a deep breath and stepped out of the car.
As she walked the path towards the the door Helen rehearsed what Robert had told her to say in her mind.
Hello Mr. Berenson. My name is Helen Chase. I was sent here because my employer believes there is a possibility that 'some old friends of yours' have returned and he believes I may be to help.
Right. Memorized. Helen took another deep breath, then reached out and rang the door bell.

Hektor covertly watched as the young women approached the Berenson house. Normally this is would not be a big deal, she could be there for any reason, yet there was something about her, something in the way she walked, the way she stood, that set her apart from most people.
He had memorized the backgrounds of all the animorphs, as well as anyone who was connected with them, yet he had no clue who she was. She was a warrior, that much was obvious, yet there was something else about her that sent shivers down his spine.
He had something to report to the Visser, and he did not want stay around and give her a chance to find out who he was and why he was here, so he quickly packed up and left, changing his cover as soon as he could and heading toward the nearest safe point to contact the Visser. Hektor could not stop thinking of the women. She was a unknown, an obviously dangerous one, and that made Hektor uneasy.

Helen spotted the man watching her out of the corner of her eye. It really bothered her that she couldn't do anything about it. Her assignment was Berenson, nothing short of a pool ship dropping in the middle of town could make her deviate at this point. Besides, the man hadn't been watching her, he'd been watching the house. Which of course meant he'd be back.
So all Helen could do was stand and wait. She rang the door bell again.

Jake had just woken up. He felt a bit groggy, like he always did after waking up. Though he knew it was becasue of something, wasn't sure what.
The second doorbell made it clear that it must've been that. He walked over to the door and opened. "Can I help you?" he asked the girl standing there in his doorway.

Hektor stopped before he walked too blocks, no, fled two blocks. The women had scared him into not thinking straight. She was an unknown, so he should be gathering information, not running away just because she scared him. He ducked a store, using the bathroom to change , apply make-up , and otherwise change his appearance. He put a political pin, and stepped out as a campaign worker for a upcoming election. He looked ten years older, wore nicer clothes and walked with a more pronounced gait.
He started with houses out of sight of the Berenson house and worked his way towards it, polling each house and managing to annoy quite a few people.

"Yes, um, Mr. Berenson. My name is Helen Chase. My father told me to say, quote, 'Joe Bob believes I can help you with some old friends'. I know it seems a bit odd, but he assured me you'd understand." Helen said. She stood at attention, hoping that Robert's odd phrasing would convey the message.

Jake raised an eyebrow. What? "Uh......can you repeat that?" he asked her. He tried to think through what that meant, though nothing was coming to him at the moment.

"He seemed sure you'd understand." Helen said. She leaned in close and whispered. "Someone is watching your house. I do not want to give away too much of what I know, but I was told that in this case I should mention that when you met my father, your enemy's brother was on his mind. And he wanted to thank you for allowing him to burn a few bridges."
Helen hated the double talk, but there was no way she was going to let anyone but Mr. Berenson in on the new yeerk invasion. And for that to happen, he needed to show that he knew about 'Joe Bob'.

Jake nodded as she whispered over. Someone was watching huh? Though what she said next got him thinking. Enemy's brother? Could she mean.....? It was starting to click now.
"Would you like to come in?" he asked her.

"Thank you, Sir." Helen said as she entered the house. Once she was sure no one was listening she spoke again. "Robert Fenestre went into hiding shortly after your assault on his compound. After three days, Esplin 9466 lesser died leaving behind instructions to stay hidden at all costs, even after the war ended. He decided to adopt a child, yours truly. About the time I turned seven he came into possession of an Escafil device, which he used to give me the morphing power. He started to train for what he thought was an inevitable second invasion. According to his sources both Earth-side and off world, that invasion is either going to begin soon, or already has. I'm here to help. And talk your ear off, Sir."

Jake closed the door behind her and then listened to what she had to say. So he was right as to who she had meant she was talking about. He hadn't heard that name in awhile. He nodded and said, "Yeah, we already know that its started. Though we could use the help. ANd please,.....don't call me sir,"

"Good. Here is a number you can reach me at." Helen handed Mr. Berenson a business card. "If you need me, don't hesitate to call. For now, however, I have to go attend to the matter of getting an apartment." She said, turning to leave.

Jake took the card. "Alright then, if I need it I will," he told her. HE then raised an eyebrow at her saying she needed to find an apartment. "You need to find an apartment?" he asked.

"I acted on the information immediately. I came here directly from an airstrip just outside of town, Sir. I haven't had time to get an apartment, and Robert doesn't own any property in the area." Helen responded.

Jackie stayed at the top of the stairs, presumably unseen at the moment, curious but not about to interrupt when her dad was talking or anything.
<Well, what do you think?>
<She could be okay, but it's hard to tell.>
<Yeah especially these days. I was a little uneasy at first but I think it's okay. I mean, I'm not the type to jump into anything unless there's a reason.>
<Hopefully there won't be.>
